We may make a quick inexpensive weekend trip to DW as a suprise to the kids.
All Star Sports fell into our budget. (5 people total)

WHat are your thoughts on this property?

We have only stayed at deluxe properties prior to this trip.
Will we hate it? Are we too spoiled to enjoy a value property after only staying in deluxe?

If you need to ask if your too spoiled for this resort then you probably are IMO. Also the rooms only fit 4 people. If you were planning on 2 rooms it would be cheaper to stay at POR where you can fit 5. We stayed in the values when we first started going to WDW then we tried a moderate and then we joined DVC and have become totally spoiled so I know we would be disappointed at a value. Not that there's anything wrong with them, they're just not for us since we've stayed elsewhere.

I guess my question is: How much time do you plan to spend at the resort? We will being staying at ASSp for our honeymoon. People keep trying to get us to change to a moderate but it is just not worth it to us. If I wanted rest and relaxation, I would go somewhere else. So, it depends on your situation.

Luigi's Girl, exactly my point. Wondering if once you've been staying at a deluxe property, can you ever go back to staying at a value?

We have booked 2 rooms at All Star Sports.
POR is not an option as my kids are older. The rooms that fit 5 at POR are for 4 adults and a child. The trundle bed is not a full twin bed.

So, for a family of 5 (youngest being 12) the only options out there as far as a Disney hotel is 2 rooms value or 1 deluxe, the with deluxe obviously being more expensive.

travlnman1,
Did you compare the cost of two rooms to one deluxe?
If you wind up at AS and you know to expect a different lodging experience and you're okay with that then you'll be fine. Otherwise if you really have to question yourself and the hotel means that much to you upgrade if you can afford to.

We had stayed at the Polynesian for Thanksgiving 1997. We stayed in a value for Christmas 2001. We are staying at the Beach Club next week. We were not disappointed with the value. You just have to go there realizing the differences. #1. When you step out of your room, you go directly outside. #2. You could have a long haul to the main building but honestly, how much time do you really plan to stay in your room? When we travel, it's a place to sleep and take a shower. That never changes value to deluxe.

I have to say that the transportation from the All-Stars is the best on Disney Property. We NEVER waited more than 10 minutes for a bus for any of the parks. One of our bus drivers even said that since the All-Stars are so big they got alot more buses.

We do deluxes for our big trips and mods or values for our short trips. We LOVE the Sports. We always stay in the Football area. Close to food court, buses and parking. You have a very different feel with all the resorts. Deluxes are for pampering and feeling like you really deserve to be there after working so hard to be able to do it. The Allstars are really fun, affordable and you are able to spend more $$ for the little things because you saved so much on your hotel stay. I have met so many wonderful people at the values that are just there to kick back and have fun. You will love the Sports.

We just stayed at All Star Music, we had stayed deluxe, an moderate in the past. We were part of a dance group, and wanted to stay with the group. The thing that we found was it seems to take forever to get to the resort on the bus, and then we happened to be just about as far from the drop off as we could be, so late at night, it seemed like quite a hike. When we stayed at the deluxe, it was easy to go back and swim or drop off stuff, we didn't even consider going back with the All Star. The food court was a zoo most of the time, and we wasted our money on the refillable mugs, we were so far from the court, and we didn't want to carry them all day, and didn't want to hike back up just for a drink. On the other hand, the rooms didn't seem as small as I thought they would be, they were in good condition and we didn't have any problem with noise. If you aren't going to be trying to go back during the day, it works okay, just be prepared wait with the transportation.

When our kids were small the resort was more important to us because we needed to take breaks so we spent a lot of time at the pool, in the room, etc. We had stayed at 2 deluxes and 1 moderate before trying All Star Sports. I had the same concerns that you are having. We were pleasantly surprised. My kids are at an age that we don't need to take too many breaks so Sports was fine for us. We stayed in the Touchdown section and it was not a long walk to the bus stop and a short one to our car when we used it. We spent little time in the room - mainly just there to sleep, shower, and change clothes. Bus transportation was better than the deluxes we stayed at. We never had a long wait for a bus. Now, if we were going for just R&R and laying by the pool then we would choose a deluxe. And if we got a fabulous deal we might. But we wouldn't hesitate to go back to Sports. That is my kids favorite resort! Even my 14 going on 21 year old daughter wants to go back. She said it just felt so Disney to her. And I'll have to admit when we go to other destinations I tend to be a resort snob but we stay so busy at Disney as long as it's clean and the staff is friendly I'm ok.

Thanks for all your thoughts!
My kids are older now so once were out for the day, we're out.
You all helped me with my fears of going to a value after only staying at deluxes.
After all, its just for 4 nights, not a long week.
We'll be fine.

I think you'll be fine at ASSp. And it's sometimes better to have two rooms (especially with bathrooms) than one.
If you guys spend most of your time on the go - then it should be ok.
The food courts do offer some variety...there are two pools, a good sized arcade. Bus transportation is usually pretty good. (it can be crowded at opening and closing times)
As you said - it's four nights...and if you don't enjoy it - well, at least you haven't spent a fortune to learn that.
