HI all!! Newbie here!

My family and I will be staying in the All Star Sports this month and I'm wondering if any of you have recommendations on where to request a room (becuase I read I could) and when I need to request it - call CM now, or upon checkin?

Also, is it worth the upgrade to a preferred room?

Thanks!!

Best rooms at Al Star Sports are Surfs Up rooms. These are preferred rooms right by main pool and closest to main building. This is where we stay all the time. Kids can come and go and you can still keep tabs on them.:

The preferred rooms are in the Surf's Up buildings and they are closest to the main swimming pool and the main building with the food court and bus stops right outside. It is hard to say what is the "best" building because it depends on whether you want to be close to the action around the pools and main building or if you would prefer to be in a quiet area. The trade off for quiet is a walk (not terribly far but it may seem like it after touring the parks all day).:) My children were in their teens when we went 2 years ago. We requested Hoops Hotel because we are all basketball fans, but were disappointed to learn we would have to stay in Center Court when we checked in. We were probably in the farthest location from the main building but there was a nice wooded area outside our room and it was very quiet. We didn't mind the walk, although it was a little inconvenient to use our refillable mugs often. And, my teens said they were glad we were not staying in a room right next to the main pool as there were lots of loud kids (and parents) there every day! There are property layouts available online so you can see which area you prefer. Feel free to PM me if you want any other information.

Thanks - I would prefer to stay in the Surf's up portion anyway (Beach people, here) so do I call back and request it now to make sure I get in?

try the phone route. I tried that in '99 and I got nowhere. We stayed at Movies that time. I started by calling there...seems logical. Nope. That started a month-long string of phone calls to one number after another. Each time the CM I spoke to assured me that their office was not responsible for assigning rooms, but if I called this next number....

A good dozen of phone calls later, nothing.

This time my travel agent (didn't use one last time) tried to request and was told they don't take requests.

I did the same thing I did in '99...wrote a letter directly to the manager, explaining where I want to be and why I want to be there. Mind you, I am not asking for a preferred room. Last time I got what I asked for. It'll be another 2 1/2 months until I know if it works again!

Surfs Up is the Preferred Buildings at AS Sports. I believe they cost about $10.00 more/night. If you upgrade to a preferred room you will be guaranteed one as soon as you called. They are a guarantee, not a request.

If you don't want to pay for a preferred room, the Touch Down Building is also very close. I've stayed at AS Sports twice (once in a preferred room in Surfs Up and once in a standard room in the Touch Down Building). My preferred room was on the back side of the Surfs Up building. While not a bad walk my standard room in the Touch Down building was closer to both the food court and the buses.
