I will try to comment on ASSp in a fair way. It is tough because we checked in after a week at Poly LV Concierge and then went on to Beach Club Villas!

My son (6) really want to stay here (the football hotel) after seeing the pictures. Well, I'll do just about anything to make sure my kids are as crazy about Disney as I am. I also figured, best to go there now while they are little and we are not trying to put to adults and two BIG kids into the smaller rooms.

I'll start out by saying we paid about $150 for 2 nights w/ an annual pass rate. I had quite a number of dinners that cost more. So the price is great.

The room was ready at 10:30 A.M. which was a great suprise! It not only was in one of the football buildings (#10) but it also overlooked the football coutyard/field (room202). This was great because it was really why we were there. I called and asked for bedrails and the person was very pleasant, telling Disney jokes and such. The bedrails arrived very quickly (one up on the Poly!) I also requested a hairdryer while there, it came quickly, but unfortunatly didn't work. I called and explained and it was replaced very quickly.

The room, while small, was very clean and comfortable. I expected to hear more nosie than we did. Nothing that really bothered us.

Also I had my suitcases sent form the Poly and they arrived much earlier than the guaranteed 3 P.M.

We visited both the Surf's Up Pool and the Baseball Pool. Fun themes, I wish they had a little more shallower area. What I noticed there was maybe a rowdier and rougher crowed than at the other resorts.

We used bus transportation to MK in the evening, AK in the A.M., DTD in the evening and MK in the AM. It was quite crowded and the crowd was lets say a little more aggressive.

All in all I would say the resort is a nice choice over a off property motel. It is clean, theming is fun, and I found the staff to be very pleasant. The toughest part was probably there was a higher percentage of unpleasant guests here than at the other hotels. I say this carefully because I know the price you pay for a room does not indicate your manners.

My husband and the kids did have fun playing football on the field and all and all our stay was a success!

Next up....Beach Club Villas

I wondered about this. I wanted to ask but didn't want to come off as a snob or anything. Would it be the same as comparing the crowds at say a 4 star hotel somewhere else to the crowds at a Motel 6? Now no one jump on me about Motel 6. I have stayed at them before and I don't care what you say they are not a 4 star, 3 star or even 2 star hotel. Now I have nothing against ASSp and plan on making my reservations for June, 2004 there pretty soon. Just very curious.

We stayed in May and did come upon lots of rowdiness and somewhat raunchous behavior at the AS Sports (my first trip so nothing to compare it to, tho!)...What I attributed it to is the large group trips for students, youth sports teams, etc. Didn't seem like there was enough supervision. Now, pls don't jump on me because, as a teacher and parent, I do know that MOST kids are great, well-behaved kids, but you always get those that aren't and cause problems when they aren't properly supervised. Also, it seemed there were quite a bit of college aged students there also....saw many of them attempting to "hide" their beer cups from security and large numbers of them hanging in one room with blaring music....I guess its just the cheap price that attracts them. On the bright side, there were many more wonderful families at the resort than there were "deviants" and we focused on that. We enjoyed our vacation to the fullest and staying in a moderate for our next trip!!

I tried hard to tread carefully about what I said.
I think the All Stars are a fine place to stay. Of course there is a differance in the resort when your paying $75 a night compared to $300 an night. Really for the cost of the All Stars you get a lot for your money. It isn't really the resort itself that was the issue.

The crowd, well, I have certainly seen poor behavior at the most expensive resorts. But there was a general differance in the atmosphere. There were certainly many families and especially a number of nice people staying there for youth sporting events at WWoS. But as I said there seemed to be higher percentage of unpleasantness among other guests than at the deluxes. I don't really want to start picking apart behaviors, but it certainly affected my comfort level.

Again, having said all that, I do still think it was a fine place. We had fun, jjarman, I bet you will to.
