Having stayed at both, it really comes down to a couple of things. 1. Price. I'm assuming there's a pretty decent price difference here, probably enough to justify 2 rooms at SOG vs 1 family suite. 2. Location. AS resorts are pretty far from most everything. Will you have a car? SOG is easier to get to and from things by walking to the poly or now you can actually walk all the way to MK (cutting through GF), I think someone timed it and it was around 30 minutes. 3. How much is having a separate bedroom and 2 baths worth and what is the make up of your family? Do you need all 3 beds in each room? Although the layouts are different, you only gain about 40 sq ft in the family suite. Both are recently updated. 4. We hate the food at the all stars, BY FAR, the worst food on property. The food at SoG is pretty good for what we had, mostly evergreens. But it's a easy walk to the poly or GF for a lot more choices. Lastly, I know you mentioned the pool. Obviously SoG wins by a landslide here and there's a good (75%) chance it will be warm enough to go swimming so I wouldn't completely rule that one out. Also SoG qualifies for the evening extended hours and ASM does not. I don't think you can make a bad choice here, honestly. Both are nice resorts that have been recently updated, it just comes down to which one feels like it will best fit your family and what are you willing to give up to get it.
