Hi everybody!

I have read about upgrades in other resorts.

Are there upgraded rooms in All Star Music?

Are there better room locations than others at the resort? We do like to be closer to the bus stops, as we're using Disney transportation exclusively. We have 2 kids -- 13 & 9.

Thanks!

Is there a general room location better than another at ASMusic?

Upgrades don't happen that often I hear although we were lucky enough to be given one for our trip this past Feb. The best rooms at ASMu are definitely the Calypso buildings (preferred, $10 a night more). If you want to be close to the main buildings at ASMu and you can fit it in your budget you might be wise to pay the preferred room rate. Music seems to be spread out more (from what I have been able to gather from the Dis boards). When we originally arrived at Music we were assigned Jazz building - can't remember the number though- Which really wasn't that far of a walk to the Melody Hall and bus stops.. but Calypso- We were about 50 feet or so from the main building. It was great.
We were on the ground floor facing the pool and although I have read here that it tends to be noisier, we really didn't notice.
Hope that helps!
Happy Planning!

The OP is corrrect in saying Jazz is not that far of a walk, but anything past it is too far for me, lol! We found it was worth it for us to pay the $10 and get into Calypso.

Deb Wills site www.wdwig.com has a map you can look at that will give you an idea how the resort is laid out!! We are staying at AsMu in Sept/Oct and I'm hoping for Broadway!

Calypso is where you want to be...less than a minute to the food court (Can anyone say refillable mugs?!!:p ), bus stop, arcade, bar (sorry, no refillable mugs here!) and closer to the pool....no brainer for us...happily paid the $10. Requested the first floor - the parking lot was right there...almost as good as OKW! ;)

We stayed in the Calypso building before it was preferred. If I were to stay in that resort again, I would definitely pay the extra $10 a night for the preferred.

You have to look at the walking part of it. Your kids are older than mine (5 and 2). The sooner we get back to a room - the better. By not paying the extra $10 for the Calypso, you will be walking by an extra building. Each building is approximately the size of a hotel like Super 8.

Another option, if you don't want to pay the $10, is to get a room at All Star Movies. The hotels are set up differently, and you could request Dalmatians or Toy Story and not have a far walk.
