All Star Music FAQ thread and tips

Just booked the suites today for our upcoming March trip. Is there one area better than the other since this will be the very first time staying at ASMusic suites?

TIA

Hi all. DH and I decided that ASM is the best choice for our family. We are trying to decide between a family suite or 2 rooms (there will be 4 adults and a 4 year old) which would you suggest? Also, are the family suites grouped together in one section or would I be able to book a suite in any of the musical sections?

TIA

My thoughts on FS vs. 2 rooms: Some people like two rooms better because you can close the door between the rooms and get some privacy, or you can put the kids to bed in one room and hang out in the other. With the Family Suites, as I understand it, the interior door will enclose only the room with the queen bed, and usually that is not where the kids sleep. Some others have said they don't like the FS because there is no bathroom directly connected to the parents bedroom - you need to go into the common area to get there. Others like the idea of having 4 real beds instead of pull-outs, although I understand the pull-outs are very comfortable.

The benefits of the FS include the kitchenette area, with a fridge and a microwave (I think?) and coffee pot. This helps a lot if you want to save $$ by eating in the room for breakfast, for example. Some also like the idea of having a living room area to hang out in during the day, rather than having to sit on beds. I also think that most of the FS have a curtain in the bathroom areas.

With both you get 2 bathrooms and 2 TVs, which is a nice benefit. I guess it depends on how much you will be in the room, how much privacy you want, etc.

All of the FS are located in the Calypso and Jazz buildings (Buildings 1,2,9,& 10).

Does anyone know what ASMu charges for Internet use per day. We are heading down tomorrow for our first trip to Disney as a family. I haven't been in 13yrs and then stayed off disney.

I think I read somewhere on this thread they charge $12 per 24 hours. Hopefully someone can verify.

Have a great trip!

Thanks. That is more than I could find on the Resort Page. They like to hide the important info huh.

I wanted to stay in the Broadway or Jazz Inn theme@ All-Star Music Resort! Oh! one more thing ASMU is the same as ASM! Please tell me!

ASM could be either All Star Movies or All Star Music. I think most of us use "ASMu" though.

Jeanylaser, have you been to All Star Music before? Why do you want to stay in etiher Broadway or Jazz? I have a reservation for a family suite, so I'll either be in Calypso or Jazz. Do you think I should ask for Jazz?

Steve is there any reason you just copied and pasted two of my posts and made them your own?

If you reserved a "preferred" suite then you will be in Calypso. If you reserved a "standard" suite then you will be in Jazz.

Personally, I would prefer Jazz to Calypso because I don't want to be in the vicinity of the noisy main pool. (I actually requested CF to get as far from the noise as possible.) But, many people with little kids like to be in Calypso because it makes it easier to get to and from the food court, the pool and the room.

I never stay in the Broadway or Jazz! My mom called Disney yesterday they said only Broadway hotel!

D'oh! Thanks, I really do want to stay away from the pool so I'll have my TA request Jazz.

I was a little surprised to hear how loud the pool area was at night around Calypso. We were at the end of Jazz (pool side) and if we listened we could still hear the noise at the pool. (not enough to keep us awake though)

Hi folks...
I'm getting really, REALLY excited now! :yay: We have about 6 weeks left before our trip to WDW! Been planning this for several months now. Thrilled!!! We hope to be assigned a room at Jazz, but Broadway seems fun too! However, we'll be arriving on a rather BUSY day. Evening actually. So, hopefully those rooms are still available then! Pixie dust! Pixie dust! :wizard:

Just returned from ASMu from 10/9 thru 10/14. The resort was fully booked. I had requested Jazz, but got Country Fair - the third from last room in the building. Long walk to main building, and was especially difficult if one of the kids feel asleep on the bus and I had to carry them back. I think Broadway and Rock are also long walks, especially if you are in the back parts of the buildings. The rooms were very nice; we ate breakfast twice and lunch once in the Food Court - thought the food was very good. It was a little confusing with the dining plan knowing what drinks and desserts come with the meals. Mousekeeping was also very good.

Me too! But! I requested the Broadway Hotel!

That's great, I hope you get it! When did you take your first trip to WDW, jeanylaser? I took mine when I was just a baby in the late 1970s. Have you always stayed onsite? This is my first trip where I'm staying in a Disney hotel. :goodvibes

I always to selected the all-star music! I can't wait to stay in the broadway hotel!

In Sept. there were reports about some food court renovation at ASMu(some areas blocked off). How is it now? What did they actually work on in the food court?
