All Star Music FAQ thread and tips

They started construction the 2nd day we were there. We were not very happy about it, we would have changed hotels if we would have known in advance.

Just came back from ASMu 2 weeks ago. Extra towels are on the bottom floor by the elavator in each building. At first we thought they were for housekeeping, but was told that only the carts covered were for housekeeping and that the extra towels were always available there. Usually plenty, late at night (11:00 pm) the supply would get low.

Oooo....good tip, thanks!

I got my confirmation to the ASMU! But! I don't know it is broadway theme is a prefered or a Standard room! I hope our family will take the Broadway!

Thought I would let anyone know that is going what we did when we had a problem with the sleeping arrangment. We where there a couple of weeks ago and stayed at the ASMu resort. The rooms have double beds but didn't think there would be a problem with my 2 children sleeping together (age 14 and 23). But after the first night, we knew the rest of the week would be awful if they had to sleep together another night. So we moved the two bed apart and got a roll away bed and put it between the beds. That way we had 3 beds. There was plenty of room on all side of every bed. The CM at the front was so nice after I explained to her why we needed the roll away that she did not even charge us for it all week. Sometimes tips like this can help.

Hi all,

Does anyone (or Linda :) ) know if any of the suites have this setup, with the booth type seating and table? This photo is from AllEars.

This was a "model", and it looks like they took out one bathroom and made the dining room area.

Just wondering - if it's there, we may want to request this.

Thanks,

Thank you for the info!

You're welcome! The Resort really goes all out to provide the extras. They start setting the pool up around 6 or so and the activities are in the afternoon and many seem to enjoy them. It was a nice surprise for us this past May.

Standard. The preferred and standard only really refer to the closeness to the food court and main pool. The rooms are basically all the same except for the 2 room suites.

I have seen Linda's post on the resort, yes, she does have it. I believer there are 2 baths still which is one of the advantages.

Thanks for the info disneyfan55! I want to know is that Broadway theme is preferred or standard room? I got confused! Oh! Do you know the website!

I didn't even know that they had rollaways! Thanks for posting this! Do you happen know if there is a way to reserve one in advance? Do they typically charge for one?

Oooo, I want to know about the rollaways, too! I have a HORRIBLE time sleeping and it would be sooo great if I or DH could sleep on the rollaway. Usually on vacation he sleeps with DS9 and I sleep with DD6--- that is, except for the time DH snored so loudly that I finally made him sleep in the bathroom with the door closed!!

Sounds terrible of me, but he would not roll over and had not packed his C-PAP breathing machine because he said it was vacation and he wanted to relax! What about the rest of us?! The kids and I got NO sleep the first two nights until I made a fabulous bed in the TUB!!!!!

The Broadway section has standard rooms and are closer to the back of the resort. But my DD who is a broadway fanatic loved it! We get to NYC at least 6 times a year and everytime she has to stand outside the stage door. In fact many times we had to wait by the elevators until the broadway song that was playing was over (btw we heard songs from Les Miz, Little Women, My Fair Lady, and of course Beauty & the Beast and The Lion King)
Now she doesn't want to stay anywhere else (unless it's a MK monorail resort.:)

 :dance3:
Reading about the AS Music on this board is getting me very excited! Can't wait to get there and begin our Disney vacation. Seats for our flight into Orlando has finally been assigned! And I bought our MVMCP tickets via the Disney website yesterday. So, we're two steps closer to Orlando!   :cheer2:

We're hoping to get a room at the Jazz Inn, but will be happy at the Broadway too! All this planning gets to be quite addictive!

I was told you can request a rollaway bed in advance (just like a refrigerator). I think they are about $12 a night (not sure). After I explained to the CM about the sleeping situation, she did not charge me. (I think they wanted to make sure that I was not having an extra person in the room.) The plan was to have the children switch off each night on the rollaway but my son decided to sleep on it all week. When I asked for it at the front, it was at my room within 30 minutes. It was pretty comfortable, had it's own pillow and blankets. We did fold it up each morning so housekeeping could clean. Alot of times, they would push the beds back where they belonged. We tried to put it many places in the room, but putting it between the beds seemed to work the best. If you put the top against the nightstand, you have plenty of room to walk between it and the tv.

It appeared that the Food Court was a mess last week. Parts of it were baracaded off and they had put up a tent outside, I'm assuming for the overflow of people wanting a place to sit and eat ... mighty nice of them especially since Tropical Storm Fay was over head for days. We were actually staying at the AS Movies ... stuck all the way in the back in Mighty Ducks (I had requested Toy Story ... so no, you do not always get what you'v requested months in advance). The AS Music bus stop was actually alot closer for us to use then AS Movies so we would catch the bus there. I think we'll be switching back to Pop next time we go ... even tho it's also a value it seemed much nice the last time we were there.
I don't understand, with all the other resorts they have on property why they can't shut one down for a bit to do the refurbishments on areas like the food courts ... what a nasty surprise for people to show up for a vacation they've been saving for only to find it a mess.

I guess they really don't want to have nothing open especially if that's the only place there. Thanks for the update. I know I reallly wouldn't want to be there during a major renovation. We walked through the Poly a few years ago when they were renovating the pool and everything just looked a mess.

We're going on Wednesday.. hope they are coming close to finishing...
I do wish that they informed guests that this was upcoming....Atleast with a pool refurbishment they let you know.

I remember that the POR food court rehab was listed so that people knew about it in advance. It sounds like the AS Music's food court rehab is extensive and I still don't know why it's not listed on any offical sites with the other rehabs. :confused3 Walking around the building to get a drink in a refillable mug during Fay must have been a hassle to the guests.

Can anyone else who just returned please update us on the progress of the food court rehab? I'd like to know if both entrances to the food court are open, if there is a limited menu, and how much of the seating area is affected. TIA!

That would be great! Thanks! And I'll bump the thread throughout the weekend if no one replies. LOL

Let's hope that Hanna doesn't affect our flight plans. I think we'll get there OK--before she arrives IF she goes near FL in the first place.
