All Star Music FAQ thread and tips

Do they all have curtains or only Jazz? What about Broadway-does it have the curtain? We will be requesting one of these buildings.

From what I've read on this board the Jazz and Calypso are the only ones with curtains. I've talked to 2 CM's about it. The 1st one said no rooms have them...which I know is false because I've seen pictures. CM #2 had no idea what I was talking about. Oh, well. I'm pretty sure it's Jazz and Calypso though.

My family is going to ASMu 6/7-6/14. We've requested the Jazz Bldg. because it is close to Food court and buses, has privacy curtain, and is non preferred. Our flight gets in at 9:13am on the 7th. Anyone have any idea what the likelihood of us getting the Jazz bldg is? We have a 2 1/2 year old and a 6 mo. old, so we really want the privacy curtain. I believe Jazz and Calypso are the only ones that have it and Calypso is the preferred rate.

I think your chances are good! We stayed last year in Apr and we recieved Jazz as requested! You can always ask again at check in!

Is it possible to find out what room you are in in advance, and if so, how? Or do you just get what you get when you get there? We've requested a king room because it's a romantic getaway. Are the king rooms located in any specific building?

Does anyone know if Jazz is preffered now or not? I tried very hard to get preffered and there is nothing available for Oct. I think I might try to call periodically to see if we can book it. Anyone done this?

The CM put a request in for the Rock building because she said that was the closest without being a preffered??? I definatly have learned CM's do not always know what they are talking about.

Can you reguest an inner courtyard room. I don't want to walk by the parking lots. We did that last time and it had a different feel to the resort?

Anyone know if the beds in ASMu can still be moved? I didn't know if the room renovations changed that or not. We want to be able to move one of the beds against the wall for DS2.

No, they won't tell you your room number ahead of time. We were there with a grand gathering and booked 8 rooms. The room assignor called me a few days ahead of time, and gave me an idea of where we were, and the building, but not the specific rooms.

The king rooms are spread out. The best way to get the room you want is to get there early so they can move you to a king room if one is available. Also, I think many of the king rooms are handicapped rooms.

I don't know if they have changed Jazz to preferred, but I think the next closest buildings are the Broadway buildings. Rock is pretty far away, and I think Country Fair is the farthest away from the main pool and food court.

Just an FYI:

Broadway and Rock Inn are the same distance away.
Rock Inn is on one side of the resort and Broadway is on the other.

Country Fair is to the back:

Thanks, Linda. I guess it's just perception, then. When we stayed in Broadway, it seemed as though we were a lot closer than when we stayed at Rock.

BTW, do you know if the Jazz buildings are now preferred?

We were in a standard room in Jazz this past January. It was great. First floor, the wing near the parking lot - right next to a row of suites. It was great. Nice, quiet & close to everything!! :cutie:

No problem. Preception can be decieving to say the least.

There have been a few recent reports that the Jazz buildings are now preferred buildings at All Star Music.

I have not heard anything "offical yet".

I would not be surprized if they added the Jazz buildings to the preferred buildings since Movies has 3 sections that are preferred.

Also it is my understanding that all of the 60's and parts of the 50's and 70's are preferred at Pop.

Exactly how far of a walk is it from Country Fair to the food court & bus stop?

I have a standard room reservation and requested Jazz last week. The CM did not say it was preferred, so I guess I'll see when I get there Sunday.

I did pay for Preferred Calypso but I have a question-anybody have opinions on what to ask for? We need connecting rooms but how about which floor? And.. if you don't face the guitar pool what do you face? Is there such a thing as a courtyard view for the 2 Calypso buildings? I just don't want to face the parking lot if it can be helped I don't care about the pool and I don't know how to phrase it to the CM's

I actually like the parking lot view, because it is so nicely planted there that your view is of trees and plants and maybe a playground. It's nice and quiet, too.

ETA: We prefer top floor (no one above) near the elevators.

I will try to find out - we check in on April 17!! Can't wait!:cool1:

We requested the Jazz bldg for next week 4/6-4/13-I'll post again when we get back from our trip. I also requested ground floor b/c it was great the last two trips at Pop and CBR being on the ground floor with our little kids. It has been our experience in all the resorts we've stayed at that the earlier you get to the resort and check in, the better your chances are of getting your room request. If they don't have a room ready for you, they go ahead and give you your tickets/room keys and a card with a number to call. You call the number after 3:00 (or whatever time check in is for that resort) and they tell you your room number.

I agree with that last yr we stayed in ASSp and I requested the Baseball section b/c DS had just started playing and I thought he'd enjoy the larger than life icons. But the day we left he had a game so we didn't arrive until 9 or 10 pm and all the rooms for the baseball bldg were gone. We ended up in the basketball section which wasn't that bad since DD plays. :upsidedow

My husband will be at ASM next weekend as a chaperone for Grad Night with his school (all boys, by the way.)

My kids are dying with jealosy!!!

Help me out. I have Pop booked for Sept., but now I am considering moving over to AS-Mu. I just read something about a privacy curtain in the bathroom. Is this only at AS-Mu? And it looks like it is only at certain buildings. Is that right? My wife gets up SO much earlier than the rest of us, so a curtain to block the light from the bathroom (that is what everyone is talking about, right?) would be SO nice.

It also looks like AS-Mu has new matresses. Does this make the beds better than Pop?

Come on, all, talk me into Music.
