All Star Music FAQ thread and tips

I would love to know more about this resort. We actually had it booked for April this year and then had to cancel our trip! So, we are thinking that we still would like to give the ASMu a try or maybe Pop. I would love to see more pictures! Also, is it worth it to book a preferred room? I want to be close to the food court and the bus stop, but I don't want to be facing a pool.

I loved All Star Music. I have stayed at Sports, Music and Pop. I have to say that they are all similar, however, the Music resort felt more Disney-like to me. I love the themed pool and they played great music at the pool.

I also prefer Music over Pop because Pop has the furthest bus terminal at the parks.

I have had both a preferred room and a standard. When I stayed at a standard I made a request to be near the food court and thankfully it was honored. If I was placed way at the end of the resort I would be dissapointed as it is a long haul to the rooms after a long day at the parks. If you don't want to take the chance go for the preferred.

This time we are going back to Music and are paying for preferred as it was all that was available with the Ticket Upgrade they offer for the spring.

I agree with mudman...when we stayed at asmu, we loved it and had a great time...but we stayed in the country rooms in the far back...that is quite a walk everyday, sometimes serveral times a day to the food courts, buses, front, etc. Next time we are going to get on of the preferred room.

Hi,

I understand that Music has been totally refurbished but does that mean new mattresses too?

We are in preferred rooms. Anybody recall about Calypso if not the whole resort? New mattresses???

Thanks!

Our next trip will be in June 2009. If ASMU still provides the activity program(pool side movies, games etc.) in 2009 I think my family would really enjoy. Plus I would like to go value because we will maybe visit Universal and other Orlando attractions so I would like to keep the cost down this trip. We still would like to stay on Disney Property(comfort zone). I am somewhat disappointed that it costs extra for a refrigerator. In June I like to make sure we can keep our water cold and maybe have extra yogurt ready for a snack. Is it worth it to pay extra for a refrigerator? Is it still $10/day

Yes, the rooms we have been in (Calypso, Jazz, Broadway) have had new mattresses.

im booked for august but was told all preferred rooms were booked, so i was unable to get one.
so i now have a standard room, which building would you recommend?

Jazz is the next best, then Broadway.

We were in the Jazz bldg in a standard room that had been refurbished with the curtain in the bathroom area & absolutely loved it. Wouldn't pay extra for the preferred if we could always get that wing of Jazz................:thumbsup2

Do they all have curtains or only Jazz? What about Broadway-does it have the curtain? We will be requesting one of these buildings.

When we stayed in Broadway, it did not have a curtain.:sad1: I have also read posts from others who said the same.

I'm so excited! We'll be there in just 5 days!

(sorry, couldn't go back to sleep, had to share!)

Hi MAGALEX !
The resort-provided fridges are still $10/day, but another option is to join a fridge swap (you sign up for your dates and then request for the fridge to be delivered to you when you arrive. (from resort storage) check the budget boards for different swaps if you are interested...

Check out our fridge swap. The link is in my signature. We may have openings for your dates. Our updated schedule is in post #1.:goodvibes

We're staying at AS Music in Sept. Did anyone here stay there last year during free dining? If so, do you remember how quickly the rooms booked during the free dining promotion? I'm hoping we get free dining, and that we can keep AS Music as our first resort choice.

My family is going to ASMu 6/7-6/14. We've requested the Jazz Bldg. because it is close to Food court and buses, has privacy curtain, and is non preferred. Our flight gets in at 9:13am on the 7th. Anyone have any idea what the likelihood of us getting the Jazz bldg is? We have a 2 1/2 year old and a 6 mo. old, so we really want the privacy curtain. I believe Jazz and Calypso are the only ones that have it and Calypso is the preferred rate.

We requested the Jazz bldg for next week 4/6-4/13-I'll post again when we get back from our trip. I also requested ground floor b/c it was great the last two trips at Pop and CBR being on the ground floor with our little kids. It has been our experience in all the resorts we've stayed at that the earlier you get to the resort and check in, the better your chances are of getting your room request. If they don't have a room ready for you, they go ahead and give you your tickets/room keys and a card with a number to call. You call the number after 3:00 (or whatever time check in is for that resort) and they tell you your room number.
