All Star Music FAQ thread and tips

I am really in need of some All Star time. Anyone have any new trip reports that I can read and dream over? LOL....have a great day!

Can someone please tell me the best standard building to request...:)

We will be at ASMu for 2 nights in Jan. I'm sure this has been posted on the thread many times and I will take the time to read every page before we go but I need to add my requests to my reservation that I just made.

Thanks!!!

Everyone has different preferences.

I like Country Fair because it's quieter, but, others think it's too long a walk--I measured it on satellite images and it's only 300 m, but, if you have little kids who are easily distracted and insist on walking themselves, that could be long.

Jazz is the closest to the main buildings.

Rock and Broadway are closest to parking (sort of...nothing is really far from parking). Some people like Rock and Broadway because they can be quieter and they think they are closer to the main building. But, because of the need to stay on the path while getting there they don't measure any closer than CF on the satellite images.

We just stayed in Jazz Inn, building 9, and we liked it a lot. We were on the second floor in room 9552, which is a Family Suite. My mom, step-dad, and brother stayed in room 9553, and it was a room with 2 beds. This room was right next to our suite. We were a Grand Gathering, and loved the fact that they did indeed put us next to each other. We were on the very end of the building, so the stairs were right outside our door. We did use the elevator sometimes too.

We had stayed in Calypso, building 1, last year. To me, it seemed that the walking distance to the main building was a little bit further, but still not that far. I have 5 year old twins, and by the third day, as soon as we were out the door they knew the way to the main building and led the way.

DH & I stayed in the Jazz Building in a standard room last January & it was perfect. It was on the wing of the building (I think #9), closest to the parking lot, ground floor. There were Family Suites next to it. We were on the opposite side to a small playground. It was very, very quiet. Loved the refurbished rooms. Quick walk to the buses, pool, shop & food court. If we stay at ASMu again I'm going to request this location once more.

Enjoy your trip!

The Jazz building is my favorite!:thumbsup2 It's equally close to both pools, close to the food court, and very quiet, especially if you are on the parking lot side.

Has anyone had an adult sleep on the pull out sofa? Were they comfortable?

We went for our first WDW vacation this year - and stayed at the WL. It was very comfortable - except that my DH snored really bad. My DDs and I had a hard time sleeping.

This year I thought we would try a value, and either book 2 rooms or the family suite. But I go back and forth and can't make up my mind what to do. So, I've not booked yet.

My con with the suites is the worry about the comfort of the pull outs & the fact that I've read that the suites are generally excluded if a discount should come out.

My con with the adjoining room is that they are not guaranteed. I want to shut the door so we can drown out DH's snoring as much as possible - but not banish him to another building or something.

Anyone have an opinion, insight, etc. they can share? We are planning to go in November (not Thanksgiving) so it's not suppose to be a busy time. Would that help our odds at adjoining rooms?

Thank you for anything you can share.

Hi. The suites this year have been included in the discount programs, but the discount is not as good as two rooms. When I called about the latest room only discount on a suite, it was about $4 a night less than AAA, which is 15% on values, so I stuck with what we had. But if we had gone with two rooms, our cost would have only been $100 a night (except the weekend) vs. $155 for the suite. Because you only have one child, you may not get connecting rooms, but the chance of that is rare unless you go at a VERY busy time.

I have heard that the pullouts are fine and we plan to sleep on them when we go in January.

Has anyone experienced Music in late June? Are there the tour groups there in the summer? If so is there a better building to request?
Thank-you

I have two children. I think we will try the suites though. The discount is not as important as having us all in the same rooms. I wouldn't want DH to feel excluded since he would be in one room - and my DDs and I in another.

The suites are awesome! YOu will enjoy them. My six foot 15 year old was very comfortable on the pull out sofa. Having two bathrooms and being so close to the food court and pools was really great!:thumbsup2

Thank you! That is very encouraging to hear!!

We're very excited for our first ASMu stay in March! Are there any special things or snacks for a mom and a teen?:woohoo:

Oh, and since we paid with the 4/3 Special, we get a preferred room automatically. Does this mean we get to be in Calypso? That's where we want to be.

I'm not sure what you mean. If you got a preferred room, you paid for it. It doesn't happen automatically unless that is all that's left. Preferred is the default if you book online but you can change that to Standard.

I stayed there in late June in 2007 I don't recall any large groups. It was the best trip we have had so far. Were going back.

My husband snores really bad too and we had a similar experience with no one else in the room being able to sleep! So this past trip we booked two rooms at Pop and it was so enjoyable! He didn't end up snoring as badly this time (or else I was really tired) but just knowing there was an option in case it got bad was so nice!

Just returned from WDW. Spent 11 nights at All Star Music Resort. Jazz Inn. Loved it! Didn't enquire about an upgrade since we were assigned a room at the Jazz Inn which we were hoping for! :cool1:

The rooms were very clean. Mousekeeping did a fine job. Lots of thirsty towels and soap every day! Beds were comfy. The privacy curtain was useful. There was more than enough space for my daughter and I to move about. The toilets did have power flushes, but it didn't bother us too much. Better that way than the opposite! We arrived on the evening of Thanksgiving. Real pleased with our experience at the All Star Music Resort. We hope to return again next year!
