All Star Movies

Hello! I'm an oldtimer who hasn't posted in a long time!

So ... I'm going back to WDW (first time since 2014!) and booked a room at the ASMovies. I have never stayed there before, but have stayed at the Music and Pop Century.

I am travelling with a friend who has respiratory issues due to recent lung cancer and surgery. I've been reading some bad reviews on Trip Advisor about ASMo -- musty carpets and mold in the showers. Is it that bad? I don't want my friend to have issues and quite frankly I'd rather not stay in that environment.

Has anyone been there lately? How bad is it? We have a preferred room, but I'm don't know if that makes a difference.

I just stayed there 2 weeks ago, and it was very clean and nice! All Star Movies is my favorite value resort. My family stays there all the time!

We stayed at ASM in a preferred room (Toy Story building) in September 2017. I didn't notice anything about the carpet until a bottle of water was spilled on the floor and we used one of the white towels to mop it up and it was DISGUSTING. Just filthy and gross.

You might consider staying at AoA or Pop instead, I think they're newer/have been renovated more recently than the All Star resorts. The refurbished Pop rooms are hardwood floors instead of carpet, eliminating the carpet issue all together. I also read something about requesting a VIP cleaning due to allergies? Not sure of what the additional cost would be but it would definitely be worth looking into in your situation!

Just returned from ASMo stayed in the Fantasia section. Our room was clean and didn't smell musty nor was there mold in the showers. ASMo is our favorite resort out of any we have stayed at. If you feel there is a problem with your room call housekeeping and they will take care of it, but I think you should be fine.

You could always request a deep cleaning before arrival due to health issues

Movies is my favorite of the three All Stars. I prefer Pop and AoA, but they are both more expensive, especially AoA, for a quick trip. I've never had a cleanliness issue at Movies. But, if you're concerned, I would call and ask for a deep cleaning due to health issues, as mentioned.

Request a high floor too - that might help with some moisture issues.
