Congrats on your upcoming trip!! :)

We stayed last year at ASMo and loooooved it. It was just my husband and I and we were in the Lovebug Building. #7 I believe. I believe it's one of the furthest buildings out but only a 3-5 minute walk to the main building and bus stop. We really really enjoyed our stay there.

I would check out mousesavers.com Mary has a breakdown of each hotel and what buildings are (quiet, close, etc...) nice to stay in. We also stayed in the Love Bug building and it was quite a walk with three tired little ones. The eating area is great, but don't even try to do laundry here (I even checked at like 2am and the machines were still all full:eek: )l

The food court and bus stop at All Star Music is actually closer to the Mighty Ducks buildings than those same services for the Movies. In fact, you might even be as close to the Music main building as some of the preferred buildings - plus the Ducks buildings have their own pool. If I'm not mistaken, there is also a laundry room in the Ducks sections. So, for the standard rate you will have your own pool (which is much quieter than the Fantasia main pool at the Movies), laundry and a short walk to eat and catch the bus! The only time you would probably need to go to the main building at the Movies would be to check-in!

Ditto!! We did this each time we stayed at Movies! This is the BEST secret we learned from here on the Dis!!! I would definately recommend doing this. :cool1:
(And, YES, there is a laundry area by the pool!:thumbsup2)

We stayed at POR in 2006 and ASMo in 2007. We were very pleased with ASMo, in fact we have booked our 2008 trip there. Our children age 5 and 2.5 loved the themeing. We were in the Toy Story section and felt that we were a short distance from everything, much closer than at POR. I did not experience any problems with using the laundry facilities.

We compared the two resorts based on our experiences and found:
1. Not that much difference in room sizes. POR had 2 sinks and ceiling fans.
2. We loved the POR boat ride to DTD
3. Loved the overall size of ASMo, did not feel that it was as spread out and away from everything as we did at POR
4. Themes were more kid friendly at ASMo

For the price difference, we did feel that there was enough "better" items at POR to book there in 2008 over ASMo.

Hope this helps.

Thanks that great now next question.......... mid january or mid February ?

Definetely January. Great time of year to go. Lower rates, lower crowds, lower stress!!
We love All Star Movies. These boards gush about POP, and so many people put down the All Stars. I think the All Stars are great. Just be advised, however, that the All Star Movies has not gone through a significant room rehab. like the other All Stars, so your room may show a bit of age. However, this is the most "Disney" of any of the resorts, IMO.
Have a great trip!

True, ASMO is very Disney themed.

Stayed there in 05 and loved it. We were in the dalmation section, and it was perfectly placed. It was right between the Ducks (close to the small pool and laundry there) and the main building (close to the arcade, food court, main pool and bar).

I wouldn't hesitate staying there again, but DH decided that if we went back he wanted to stay at AKL so he could see all the animals.

I've stayed there in '06 and loved it!! I think we were in the toy story part ...it was real nice. Didnt have any problems with the resort at all.

We just got back from our stay at All Star Movies and loved it! We stayed in the Woody Section and it great!! Loved the pool and the food court. Our trip was awesome and we are sad that we are back home:lmao:
Can't wait till our next trip!:thumbsup2

Hi,

If and when my entire family goes, we need to rent 2 rooms, and on those trips, we always stay at the ASMovies. My family loves it.

The preferred buildings are Toy Story, Fantasia and Dalmatians. We have always requested (and it has always been honored) the Toy Story buildings, mainly for our youngest... it's his favorite movie, and it is also the quietest of the preferred locations. (The rooms facing the main pool, located in the Fantasia buildings would be subject to "pool noise" and traffic from the Love Bug guest.)

We have visited during busy and non-busy times and have never had any problems... check in/out was quick and efficient, no noisy neighbors, pleasant CM's, rooms were clean, always a table available at the food court. The Movies do usually share buses with Music and Sports but we've never experienced any issues concerning this.

My family feels at home here, and whenever I mention staying elsewhere on property, I always get a moan and a groan from 1 or 2, saying they would rather stay at ASMO. I'm not sure why this is... since some of the other resorts (Mods and Deluxe) offer more in terms of views, pools, location, etc., and we have enjoyed these, as well. (For me, I love looking across the water from the Beach Club and seeing the Boardwalk all lit up at night.) Perhaps it's just the "Disney kid" in all of us, and we liked to be surrounded by the characters we know and love.

We make the Mighty Ducks section our "home away from home" each trip.:thumbsup2 Its quiet, has its own pool, laundry, etc. We;ve done summer and January, so I don't think you'll go wrong with either month you've got. You should be able to get some good rates:woohoo: as a bonus

I'm glad to read all the positive reviews. We are planning to book our Nov 08 trip here. :woohoo:

Looks like mid January and Mighty Ducks building yay now all I have to do is save .......

I have stayed at many different WDW hotels and this one is one of our favorites....AKL and BC are the other favorites, but we can't afford to make as many trips to WDW staying at those resorts. I found that I can afford the values and go about once a year. All star movies is our favorite value resort, we have stayed there on our last 3 trips.

The first 2 trips, I requested a preferred room. We were traveling with my parents and my mom is disabled ans had an accessable room. We requested to be near each other. We stayed in Fantasia and we had the first 2 rooms you could get to across from the pool on our first trip. It was a great location. The second pref room was fantasia again, facing the pool and we had the last 2 rooms on that side. It was not to bad either. The last time we stayed there was last Aug and my parents weren't along with us, so we decided to save money and go for a regular room. We were in love bug, it was the building behind the fantasia building and we were on the outside, the first room you get to. It was a little more of a walk, however my children loved passing Herbie everyday, getting wet in his sprinklers. We also passed Donald and Daisy stautes and the kids loved those as well.

My kids 10 and 3 love ASMovies and recommend it for other kids to stay there. I hope this helps you.
