We are planning a trip to WDW in December and staying on-site but not at ASMovies. Is there a Toy Story playground? I saw pictures of the kids playground but it just looked like a regular playgound structure. What is Andy's room? Is it a place kids can play?
I was also wondering if those of you who have been to the ASMovies gift shop have found more Toy Story merchandise there than in the parks.

Thanks for your help!

Andy's Room is in the courtyard area between the Giant Buzz and Giant Woody statues. There are huge blocks, a giant tick tac toe, and few other things for the kids to run around and climb on. Not an actual playground but my son loved it.

I didn't notice anymore Toy Story toys in the gift shop than anywhere else. Have a great trip!

The only actual playground I saw when I was there last week was just your "general" jungle gym type playground. It appeared to be the type you might see in any park or school yard around the country. Yes, there are a few things kids could climb on (but the stuff is big, and it might not be too safe).

Thanks nuke and CWIPPERMAN for the info about Andy's room and the gift shop!

This is from my 11yo DS and 9yo DD, whose memories are better than mine:

There is Rex, Bo Peep, Woody and Buzz (really huge - you can climb on Rex)

A big chess board that you can climb on, with checkers that you can't move but you can sit on

RC (the car) that you can climb inside

A big door that you can climb on somehow

DS thinks there might be a Hamm you can climb on

Thanks Barb D! That cinches it. We're going to get there (even with the bus transfer); now to fit it into the itinerary. So much to do and so little time...

Thanks again all!

Escape - I'm not sure that it would be worth a bus transfer to get there! If you have a car, it might be worth a car trip if your kids are REALLY Toy Story fanatics. I would only do it if you have a few hours to spare. Don't miss any park time over it.

Now if they would only start that rumored Toy Story character breakfast... Keep an eye on the restaurant board for that one.

Also, make SURE you know what the hours are at Al's Toy Barn at MGM. We got there just a few minutes too late last time. We could see Buzz and Woody in there signing autographs, but the CM wouldn't let us in because it was getting ready to close. Seems to me it was pretty early in the evening, too.

Thanks again Barb D! The picture links were great. I was having a hard time deciding whether to take part of an afternoon to go see Andy's room. I don't know if I can resist the photo ops for my scrapbook and the kids really would like to sit in RC. One option was to let the littlest one take his nap while we did the bus to ASMovies. We have planned some time at MGM too. But I think it is late afternoon/evening. I will definitely check the MGM brochure when we get there. I hope Buzz is there on the day we picked;if not guess we'll have to rearrange. I'd love to take the kids to Pizza Planet too but I'm not sure about it as my DS is dairy allergic. I saw pictures with the LGMs hanging on the ceiling!
