Hey there everyone! My family will be going to WDW early March 08 (he was there as a kid, but it's a first for me and our girls) Thinking about staying at all star movie resort. we want to go to a value resort b/c i don't think we will be in our room all that much- just nap times and sleeping at night. Any thought about ASM? Also, do you think it's worth it for the dining plan (DDs will be 5 and 3)? Thanks in advance everyone:goodvibes

We have stayed at the ASMovies before and LOVED IT!! Like you, we were just there for naps and sleeping at night. Had the preferred room so my mom didn't have to walk so far and I have to say it was worth it!! I definitely recommend the DDP. It's only $11/day for children that age and in my book that saves A LOT of money.

Enjoy your stay!! Have a WONDERFUL time!!!

me & DBF love ASMo! We stayed there for the first time last year, and will be back again this summer. I think out of all the values this one is the best themed for children, and the walk isn't too bad even when you're not in the preferred rooms. There's a lot to look at, so make sure you set aside an afternoon to walk around the hotel for photo ops! :goodvibes

As for the dining, I agree with the above- for $11 a day you really can't go wrong. For that much you can get a kids meal and one snack each day, but with the DDP you'll get a lot more!

Enjoy your trip!!!

I stayed there with friends on Spring Break March 2006 and it was a change for me b/c my family and I normally stay at a deluxe b/c we like the extra space and its easier with sleeping issues b/t my brother and I if we can get bunk beds at WL. But I must say I was shocked at how nice the resort was for a value. We have stayed at POR, POfq, Poly, and WL and when i had stayed there I was shocked to see the rooms weren't as small, it provided beds, showers, and AC which is what I was looking for!!

I did not use the pool b/c we were there for a night but they seemed clean but w/o hot tubs ( i dunno if that is a must for you? ) and the CS area looked rather good and busy and the gift shop was very well stocked. We did not use the buses b/c we had cars but I think they come pretty frequently.

Overall my one nite stay was just fine and if it was my family I would stay there in a second esp with young kids b/c all you really need is a bed, shower, and AC but my thinking is is if my dad wants to dish out 300+ a nite i'll stay there! The only problem we did have was trying to contact mousekeeping for more towels and the front desk and mousekeeping didnt answer when called but we made due!

We stayed there with my 5 year olds last fall and have no complaints. They loved it and I did too! We did not stay in a preferred location, we were in Love Bug and got along just fine. We were on the ground floor and I was very happy about that. We loved the food court, the water sprinklers, the arcade, the busses.........you name it but we also didn't have very high expectations. I think expectations and prior experiences other places can potentially effect opinions. I went in with an open mind and was completely satisfied!

ETA: Forgot to mention about the dining plan, my children enjoyed it and I think it was well worth the child plan price.

ASMo is great! I love the theme! Definitely my favorite of the All-Stars!

I agree ASMo rocks. I did the 101 Dalmations and it was perfect we even found shortcuts to the bus drop off and pick up. Also if I remeber correctly it is the 1st bus stop so you always get, but the last drop off

Loved ASMovies - didn't particularly care for ASMusic, but it was only because of certain tour groups that were there in the summer. They were loud and extremely obnoxious and even though there were chaperones, they were totally unsupervised. It got so bad that there were several times when I wouldn't allow my kids to go swimming in the pools b/c people from the tour group were being "intimate" in the pool while kids were swimming around them. However, the resort was good for being a value (it was really what I expected) and it was clean and well maintained I thought. I will def consider staying at ASMusic again now that they have the family suites and as long as it is a different time of year and I don't like to judge things on one time- never again in July though!!!

When we went to ASMovies in Oct., it was so quiet and nice. I preferred it over Music and if they had suites, it would be my choice. I don't know much about ASSports (and I have no desire to ever stay there) or POP, but I will after Nov. as we're staying there this time.

I hope you have a magical time :goodvibes

We enjoyed ASMO this month. The huge icons in the coutyard are awesome, (we were in the Toy Story section). The pool is georgous, and my 2y old loved the kiddie pool / water jets (if thats what the srinkler things are called:confused3 ) The food court was adequate. If you use the pool, the concierge at the front desk will gladly give you as many towels as you need:goodvibes
The 1 minus, if any, was that the room really was tiny:rolleyes1 We had the DDp, and made good use of it. CS lunches, TS dinners, OOP most breakfasts, and sometimes used a SC for things like choc milk or fruit, other times for Candy at DTD, and frozen cokes/ muffins, ice cream etc. We thought it was worth it:thumbsup2

Have fun

The dining plan is too much food for my dh, but I *wish* he would agree to it. I think it is a great deal. We also have free fridge & other appliances to use at All Star Resorts...

The DH and I stayed at All Star Movies last September and really liked it. To us, it was the best themed value resort. Our room was very clean, and the staff was friendly enough. Since it was our first trip and we didn't have that much time, we didn't get to use the pools, but we did go to the arcade and the food court. Both were nice.
We loved just walking around and looking at all the different things. We took lots of pictures.
Here's a couple that we took:

I will agree- we loved AS Movies!! The theming was great, the rooms were adorable! My kids were 3 & 5 also, when we stayed, and the bus transportation worked out really well for us. This last trip, we did do the DDP, but only because with what we had planned, it was a better value for us - we were only there for 3 days, and had 2 character meals plus le Cellier planned. The DDP worked out to be cheaper.
