Hello! I was hoping you could give me any useful info on the All-Star Movie resort. How is the transportation? pool? Which building or room is the best? Any other tips would be appreciated.
Thanks!:D

I have never stayed at the AS movie resort but, I know transportation at all disney resorts is superb. We never drive our car anywhere while down there we simply catch a bus.

I love this resort with or without kids. Like I stated we stayed last Nov and we never waited more than 15-20 mins for a bus. The theming at this resort is awwsome. I also like this food court better than the other Value resorts.

As for the pools there are two. Fantasia and Mighty Ducks ( I believe the mighty ducks is the kiddie pool.). You can't beat the value for your dollar. The wing that we requested but are not guarenteed is the Toy Story Bldg. It is close to the food court and busses. We did the Mighty Ducks last year and thought it was a good walk to the main lobby.

Hope this helped!!!

We have stayed Movies the last 2 years (October) and it was great, busses arrived pretty much as scheduled certainly never more than 15 minutes. Loved Fantasia pool. We have stayed both Toy Story (Buzz) and Dalmations (Pongo) both were FANTASTIC... This is one resort where I personally feel that paying Preferred is a total waste of money!!!! Literally 2 minutes to Food Court, Pools, Guest Relations, Bus Stops!!!! Also with the 2 blocks we stayed in you could bypass the main building and walk round to the busses thru the gardens.

Just a small point, If you see goods in Donald's Store( Can't remember proper name) check out DD (especially if you have an AP...World of Disney 10% Discount) or the Parks.... AK and the surrounding resorts pay a higher tax rate that the rest of Disney due to their location (about 2% more)... not a lot on small things, but if you're like me that soon adds up!!!!!!!!

Have a great time!!

I stayed at All-star Movies the first week in June, and I was pleasantly surprised. As some other people already stated, the bus service was great. There was only one time I had to wait 15 minutes for a bus, every other time they were there within 10 minutes. The food court there is really nice. There is pretty much something for everyone. The cheesburgers that my wife & I got there are some of the best that we have had for a long time. We stayed in the Mighty Ducks section (I'm a big hockey nut), and though it is a longer walk to the main building, the walk was not long at all. I considered it a morning warm-up before walking all of those miles in the parks. As for the pools, I only went in the Mighty Ducks pool. Fantasia always seemed fairly crowded, but the Mighty Ducks pool would be relatively quiet in the evenings. The scoreboard next to the pool doubles as a clock, so nobody needs to worry about bringing a watch down to the pool.

I'm guessing the biggest tip I could give you is to give yourself reasonable expectations about the resort. It's called a "Value Resort" for a reason. I'm not knocking the Resort in any way, but don't expect the services that come with the price of a deluxe hotel. My wife & I arrived with our expectations (this was our first time staying on Disney property, and we had done our research), and All-Star movies exceeded every one of them. I hope you have a great stay!

We have stayed at ASMo twice and are going back in 2 weeks. Both times we have stayed in the Mighty Ducks buildings - we enjoyed the 5 minutes walk to the bus stop every day - what's another 5 minutes when you're walking all day anyway. Plus it was a very pleasant walk - past the Dalmations building - DD had to stop here every time - there is a TV and kids pretend they're on screen. It's a quieter area than those closer to the bus stop. You've the 'quiet' pool just on your doorstep and you get can the bus to ASMo or ASMu home - there's no difference in distance - catch the first one that comes.

This time, we've just asked for a non smoking room - we'll see where we end up - a little bit of excitement for us.

It's a great resort. We're going back there in 2 days. Several people, me included, have posted responses to similar queries from people about ASMovies. If your read through the older threads, you should find plenty of information that will be useful.

Sonar is right, however. Set your expectation level accordingly. The Grand Floridian it is not. ASMovies is a great place, but know where you're going and you won't be disappointed.

We stayed ASMo Dec/Jan and we loved it. I have DS 6 and DS1 who loved the Toy Story play area. I faxed my room preference 3 days before going and was very happy with where they put us. My main preference was the Toy Story section with a view of Andy's Room. This was our first trip and we had absolutely no complaints. On two mornings we were going to the food court and saw rabbits in the lawn and two small/baby squirrels playing with each other. Everyone of the CMs were nice and the food was similar to fast food(not bad especially since I didn't have to cook it!), although the Cheesesteak was awesome! The bus rides were good. There were many people who complained of the wait which was maybe 5 minutes maybe 7 and I thought they were crazy. If for any reason a bus was late we used the "waiting time" to talk to my son about his favorite rides/shows from the previous day and what he is looking forward to at the park we were going to that day!!
This year we are going back and are still deciding whether to stay at Pop Century or ASSp only because we want to try to stay at all the different resorts!!!!

We stayed at Music our last trip (Jan/Feb 03) and we were very happy with the transportation never more than a 5-10 minute wait.

The pool was excellent, the main figures were not in operation most of the week, but that did not attract from it at all - very nice. I prefer it over Movies.

Building choice is tough, we had Jazz and liked it, but I did like the out of the way location of Broadway and it's style better.

I am sure you will like this resort it is quite nice for a value resort.

I haven't been there, but I'm going in October this year. Here's a link to some more information: http://www.wdwig.com/faq_asmv.htm

I see it says refrigerators are $10.60 a day "payable up-front." I'm undecided so I suppose I'll just wait until check-in to make a better decision on this and whether to request a certain building. As another poster wrote, "we'll see where we end up." A little adventure I think. :)

Have fun!

I stayed there 5 years ago so things may have changed, but the transportation is good and the best buildings to stay in IMHO are toy story, fantasia, or 101 dalmatinas for convenience or mighty ducks or love bug for a quiet room.

"que no mata, engorda"

Is that as Nietzsche wrote, ‘That which does not destroy me makes me stronger?’

Or does it make me fatter? Ha. ;)

I have stayed at all of the AS Resorts. They are all great, but movies is our favorite. My DD (5) loves the theming and the food court is AWESOME. I am nervous, as this time we are staying at the WL and don't have any idea what to expect. Just splurging this once, and will return to ASMo next trip, as it is so far our favorite!

We always buy the refillable mugs, great deal, just never know what to do with them when we leave the food court in the am and head to the parks. Inevitably, one of us "adults" ends up running them back to the room before we go.

We have stayed in preferred and as far back as the Love Bug and the only time the walk seems really long is in the evening when we are returning and DD doesn't want to walk, but wants to be carried.

Awesome resort, have a WONDERFUL time!!

Going back to AllStars in March. We stayed at CBR three weeks ago, not happy with the food court. We had great food at AllStars in the past. Allstars March 04 ,4 us.........
