All set for the big test

We learned today that Justin's blood tests show he's ready for the full body scan so we head in tomorrow for the next step and then the scan on Wednesday. If they find any cells that take in the dye, then we head back on Friday to make him radioactive for the holiday weekend. If they don't find any trace, then his disease has progressed beyond this treatment option and we just watch and wait while we regroup and come up with plan B.

Update - Got all the way into the city and got the call to reschedule. The dye, a mild form of radioactive iodine with a short half life, failed a quality control test and could not be administered. Everything was bumped a day, so we head in tomorrow for the new and improved dye, scan on Thursday, and if they can administer the therapeutic dose it will be on Friday.

Kind of creepy, thinking that someone is messing with atoms right now to fabricate something radioactive to put in my son....I hope they studied in a good school.

I'm sure Justin's emotions are all over the place as it is, and then you have to turn around and go home to wait another day. i'm really sorry that happened...although it is good to know that they are being so careful with the quality control. Please keep us posted.
