Hi everyone,
Well thought you might like a update on how it was.
All day on Sunday it was quite warm with a lot of cloud - not a breath of wind anywhere.
By the time 8.00pm arrived the wind had picked up slightly and continued to do so until 11.00pm. I think the tropical storm force winds began around 1.00 am Monday. From there on in things got steadily worse - winds building up quickly and about 6 inches of rain. The worst of the hurricane for us was the back side - after the eye had passed over - This bought gusts of 110 mph and more rain. My DH and I kept going to the window to check that all was ok.
Around 1.00 pm things started to quieten down and we and others ventured out. Here in Ft myers we have lots of places without phone or power and a fair amount of structural damage although not as bad as Hurricane Charley.
All in all I think the area escaped any major damage - the worst of it was in the Naples/ Marco/ Everglades area - they suffered major flooding and damage.
Well thats all for now folks - if anyone has any questions I will do my best to answer them - All I can say is thank god that this seems to be the last of the storms - for this year anyway!!!!
