Not really- may just be the difference in files to start with. I am still trying to figure out the new gear.

Hmm. I wonder what's going on, then. The carrousel in the rain shot in particular seems to have definite "halos" around the sharp-constrast areas, like the top of the building, around some of the people, etc - thing that would usually happen from sharpness being turned way up when processing or resizing - I doubt that the camera would cause such things (especially not a D700.)

I may have bumped the sharpening up too much on the rain picture to try to bring out the rain drops in the resized version (they are very visible and cool looking in the full size file.) I did not realize your earlier comment was directed at that picture.
