Thanks guys! Here it is!, Daughters shower, next week, wedding in 2 months, Sons schooling, Daughters car, etc... But I am dying to go back to WDW..We still have our Annual Passes thats paid for. I called and between our plane vouchers, our round trip tickets from Michigan going NorthWest Non-stop was only $ 80.00 a piece out of pocket, but it is for a 9 day deal. Other wise the plane tickets were double. (the date is for Sept 11-19,02) Here is where I need the HELP..We have been to WDW 5 times and have stayed at, Dixi, PO, WL, Dolphin, DI.. But I money wise am feeling guilty with so many things coming up but when I called the reservations they gave me a price for the ALL STAR MOVIES including the tax for $60.00) total per nite.. Husband said I won't like the All Stars.. If we go for a moderate it will be at least doubled. So I was hoping on opions on what some of you guys would do. Normally I never had a problem with asking anything like this but I can't decide. The other option is waiting till May or Oct of 2003..Thanks Guys

DH & I stayed at CSR (January '01) and ASM (January '02).
I actually liked ASMo better. The only thing I missed was the in room coffee maker. And the only downside to the whole resort was the laundry facilities.
DH liked CSR better.
So it comes down to personal taste once again.
We just are not in our room much, so it doesn't have a HIGH importance to us.
Personally, I think I would be happy at any WDW resort.
But the more $ I save, the more $ I have for pins! ;) :D

If that was the only thing between me and disney I would go ahead and do it. Like the poster above said, you won't be spending a lot of time in the hotel anyways. Or split your hotel, the asmo first then a moderate for the end of the trip.

Thanks for the support..This is the first time in 5 years I am not sure on what to do. You know it's kind of funny, I used to come home from one trip and than get on the phone to reservations planning the next trip. I have four grown children still living with me which we never asked them for a dime. They are 22 to 30 and every time I talk about going to WDW they some how make me feel guilty. I took them twice in the last 2 years even paid for 2 of their friends but they all want to go and I think part of me is trying to maybe talk myself out of this trip so I don't feel guilty about not taking them. It would be great if my kids saved money, but the total cost will be on us. Does anyone else feel guilty when you don't take your living at home grown children?

Thanks Again

I don't know about your 22 yo (still in school?), but 30??!!! They should pay their own way! ASMo is wonderful. We stayed there in Jan and I loved it. My mom brought her 4 cup coffeemaker, but the mugs are so convenient. The rooms are not large, but I didn't find them small. Ask for the Toy Story section. A very quick walk to the pool and food court, which was very good. I think you'll be very happy (you'll be at WDW!!!). I think since you are getting the plane and room so cheap that everyone should pay for their own way.

Ok, OK, You guys are right, I must be crazy to feel guilty! Wish I could be like the parents in the WDW comercials. Thanks to ALL...At least I am feeling so much better about staying at a value resort.

I am 21 years old and have paid my own way to wdw once and will do so again this June (I have had to make a lot of sandwiches at the sandwich shop to afford it!!) Don't feel guilty about not taking your kids!!!! I would definitely go. We loved the ASMo but got a postcard, so we are trying POR this June. If you are concerned about the Movies, I would split your stay between it and a Moderate. That way, you will still save money, but not be forced to stay in a place you may not enjoy for the whole trip.

If it's between going or not going, then definitely stay at All Stars. I think just being on site and being there, you will have a FAB time!:)

Go. For $60 a night why wouldn't you? Yes the rooms are smaller that the moderate and there are more children and the rooms do not have hair driers but it's still better than offsite and it's Disney! I've stayed at many of the Disney resorts and have found that $$ tells me where I should stay. Besides with your AP would you not be at the parks for most of the day? I think I hear your AP whispering "Take me to Disney".

Actually - don't sell the All-Stars short. We typically stay at Dixie Landings (I know -- Port Orleans Riverside:( ) but have stayed at the All-Stars and it was okay. Just think of the money you'd be saving - and still staying onsite!

Chatty,

Need a fifth kid? Tell each one they have to kick in $20 per day - then you will have an extra $80 per day to spend on a hotel. Even better tell them you need a vacation with the DH and go enjoy yourselves before chaos.

(When I graduated from college and got a job my parents started charging me $100 a month ( room and board ) and then raised it $100 every 3 months, they said if I wanted to stay at home a couple of years and pay $800 a month I was more than welcome.)

Chatty, we too take our adult children with us not only to WDW but to Las Vegas, wine country, the Grand Canyon, the Caribbean, well you get the picture. We enjoy their company, they pick up an occasional tab and it really provides a closeness as well as wonderful memories.

But, feel guilty about traveling without them? Never!

We will return to WDW this June to celebrate our youngest son's high school graduation. The two older guys are 26 and 29. They aren't cheap dates, they eat and drink a lot, but are so much fun to be with that it makes it all worth while.

Chatty,

First of all, if it's a choice between staying at the All-Stars or waiting until 2003, I'd definitely stay at the all-Stars. We satyed at ASMo in Jan. 1999 for our first trip, and. although it doesn't have any luxurious amenities, it was perfectly acceptable. How much time do you spend at the hotel anyway?

As far as your kids, at their ages, they're lucky you still let them live at home, nevermind expecting you to pay for their vacations! Tell them if they want a vacation that badly, use all the $$$ they are saving on room & board by living with you! I am 28 years old, have a good job, husband, house, and a child on the way - I can't imagine how someone my age or older would think that they are entitled to have their parents still supporting them. It sounds like you have done more than many parents for your children, and you certainly deserve to have a special vacation, without them, and without any guilt!

By the way, my mother and I took a mother-daughter trip to WDW in Oct. 1999, 7 months before I got married, and we each paid for half of the trip - we're both adults, so I think that's fair.

last week and had a great time. Sure, the rooms are small but who stays in their rooms when there is so much to do in the world?? And believe it or not, it was the quietest hotel we have ever stayed. And there were cheerleaders around!! All we heard are the bomb toilets!lol. The trans is great and the food court is reasonable. Go and have fun. Wish I was going back!! pam

redbirdgrad - I love that arrangement with your parents. I'm going to remember that when my daughter graduates from college. LOL:D
