Hi All,

Long time since I have looked around on the boards. Well Hubbie and I are planning another holiday to Disney and we are in ifs and buts stages.

We have only stayed at AKL. Our budget isn't huge compared to when we got married. We are thinking eith the Carribean or the All Stars Movies.

What are your thoughts on All Stars?? :confused3

Do they have a refridgerator in the room?? :confused3

We are stay for two weeks and I don't wanna get there and be disappointed.

Thanks popcorn::

Our family never travels and stay at fancy hotels. I just need then to look clean and be in a safe area.... a pool is nice too!

So All*Movies worked for us- we loved it and already booked our second trip. You can get a fridge in your room for $10 a night. My kids loved the toy stroy area and I must say so did I.

I just stayed at All Star Movies. Nice hotel, mousekeepers fantastic. No refrigerator but you can rent one. The only problem I had was with the buses. I waited an hour 15 minutes at MK one day for a bus back to the resort. The whole week buses were not timely. Plus they share with All Star Sports.

I've also stayed at Caribbean Beach and found it to be too big. It's quite a hike to get to the food court or the large pool from some areas of the resort.

Have you considered a split stay? Maybe half at Pop Century (Own busses, nice value resort)and half at POR(nice moderate, not as spread out)?

I guess the bus thing is different at different times of year.. we never waited more then 15 minutes in Jan 07

I was allset to stay at the Caribbean Beach Resort this time, but my wife lost her job. I ended up changing to ASMo and reserved a fridge, ended up saving a little over $400:woohoo:

You have to pay for a refrigerator in any of the value resorts so you need to budget for that. I think it's $11.00 per day but I'm not certain.

We've stayed at the CBR two times and loved everything about it. The resort is large but you never feel crowded. The rooms at the CBR (340 sq. ft.) are larger than the other moderates and the values. The extra room comes in handy for me because I always bring too much stuff and I always buy too much stuff.

The bedrooms at the CBR come with either a king size bed or two double beds, an armoire, a table w/chairs, nightstand, large bench with storage area beneath, a large mirror, refrigerator and a peg type shelf. In the closet/sink area, you'll find an iron, ironing board, coffee maker, small wall safe and a hairdryer. The CBR has double sinks...also another plus.

The bathroom is separate from the closet/sink area and is the typical motel/hotel size.

The mousekeeping services kept our room neat and tidy all ten days we were there. We slept in two days and they left a huge bag of towels, wash clothes, soap, shampoo and coffee for us by our door.

The resort is made up of villages and each has their own quiet pool and beach. The beaches have hammocks and beach chairs and we watched the higher Epcot fireworks from the Jamaica and Martinique beaches.

Old Port Royale is where you'll find the food court, full service restaurant, arcade and store. The walk around the entire promenade is 1.4 miles and Old Port Royale is located in the middle. So, even if you are in the furthest village, your walk is no more than half that far from Old Port Royale.

The food court at the CBR had a wide variety of foods to choose from and even our picky son was able to find something he liked. There are the typical burgers, hot dogs, pizza and chicken strips. You can also dine on hot and cold deli sandwiches, fresh tossed salads, pasta, rotissiere meats and vegetables. During the morning hours, there are Mickey waffles (with or without fruit), an assortment of breakfast meats, omelets and lots more. The Grab N Go section was our favorite.....salads, fresh fruit, fresh baked bakery items, desserts and more.

The store had a nice selection of beach/tropical themed items, lots of Pirates of the Caribbean merchandise and the typical Disney merchandise such as t-shirts, toys, hats, souveniers, etc.

At the marina, you can rent pontoon boats, watermice, bicycles and surrey bikes. We rented the surrey bikes and made a loop around the promenade. There is an abundance of beautiful foliage and flowers growing around the resort. Makes for a very pretty walk and/or ride.

The bus service at the CBR was excellent during both of our stays. The buses ran efficiently. Sometimes, there were two and three buses at the bus stops at once (during busy hours). Because the CBR is centrally located, it never took us long to reach any Disney destination. If you don't want to walk around the resort, you can take the internal resort shuttle bus. Oh, and the CBR bus stops are covered whereas I understand the value stops are not.

I hope that this information will help you in your decision making process.

Thanks for starting this thread! We are also staying at the ASMovies and would like some info about it. I wanted to know what the best building is to stay in. I think I will start a poll on this. Looking forward to reading the answers you get on this!

As you can see by my signature, LOVE ASMovies. Our budget is a bit more flexible than it was just a few years ago, so we're giving some other resorts a try that we've always wanted to stay at. However, my wife and I have already decided, once we've stayed at those 3 resorts, we're gong back to Movies. We love it there!

If you have children I would think the building that appeals to them most would be whichever movie interest them the most. My kids love toy story and we dream of staying in "Andy's room".:cloud9:
