PolyHereWeCome said:We were there 5/14-5/19, so nearly the same dates. Agree that it was hot -- hotter than we'd experienced last March. But the crowds were so much lighter than March (Spring Break) and we liked paying the regular season room prices rather than peak season prices. We'd definitely definitely go again in May, and we survived the heat by just making sure to hit the parks at opening, hitting the pool midday, and returning to the parks at/after dinner.
Yes, the crowds could have been worse...especially if you are used to those Spring break crowds!!! My favorite time to go is right after Thanksgiving, the crowds are really on the low side then. That would by why I thought the crowds were on the high side in May...it's all relative as they say!!!
The one thing I found on that trip though...
we stayed at POP. I love POP. But, we have usually stayed in our home resort of BWV when it's hot and humid, making those mid-day swims very easy. My dh really suffered at POP. He is looking at knee replacement surgery in the very near future. Since it was time consuming to go back and forth to POP in order to have that mid-day swim and rest, we tried to go without it. THat was a really bad idea. His knee really suffered from all the walking, so his gait was thrown off and his back went into spasm. Not a pretty sight.
But, we love WDW at all times of the year. The seasons all have their merits. Hey, until you've stayed at WDW with a hurricane, you haven't lived!!
