I used to love the fruitcakes that Fanny Farmer Candies sold but since then I haven't had any. Are there any places that actually make a great fuitcake?
Well, I didn't like fruitcake and one day my mother in law got me to try a Claxton Fruitcake and I've been hooked ever since. I've seen them at Sam's Club. Try one, you'll like it.
Collin Street Bakery in Corsicana, Texas makes yummy (no, really!) fruitcakes. They use loads of pecans.
And their pecan pies? Oh. My. Goodness.... They have a Fudge Pecan Pie that just defies description.
They also have several pecan fruitcake variations: Pineapple Pecan, Apple Cinnamon Pecan, Apricot Pecan (starting to see a pattern here? ), cheesecakes, rum cakes... tons of goodies. I've had very good experiences ordering from them.
I have to second that. Somebody gave one to my stepdad one year and that thing was GONE baby! It was probably the most delicious fruitcake I've ever eaten.
Course..being loaded up with pecans didn't hurt neither.
I may be slightly prejudiced here, but I'll agree with the fruitcake from Holy Cross Abbey! My DH's uncle was one of the monks (he died 25 years ago) & my MIL & her siblings have always kept up their association with the Abbey. Having one of their cakes is tradition for us!
First, let me state that I don't eat fruitcake so this is a second hand post
My mom is a fruitcake nut. She really likes the stuff and has tried many different brands. Last year I sent her a three pack of the Claxton that everyone raves about but my mother still swears that Entenmann's makes the best fruitcake ever.
My 15 year old son loves fruitcake too. I just don't know where my husband and I went wrong.
