Aww, my phone is at peace :hippie:
After a couple bad phone days with T-mobile *I have an AT&T iPhone* I signed up with Net10 yesterday evening and I'm back to my ST days, I will not stream I <3 Radio 40 hours a week at work.... I'll bring a radio from home *I like to listen to talk radio ~ I'm turning in to my parents :scared1:

ETA ~ Almost 24 hours after swithing back to T-mobile *porting of my number was successful* the data is awful, I cannot stream anything - no problem with Straight Talk, the FB app doesn't show pictures. Safari is slow/non repsonsive.

I can leave T-mobile, is there anything comprable to Straight Talk with perhaps a more liberal data plan??

Original post ~

I have service through 7/3 but they've cut off my data, it's completely gone. No warning text 'Hey, watch it - you're getting close'

My kids line is still with T Mobile ~ $50 per month ulimited talk and text, I'll add to that for $80 total, plus unlimited data for my line at $20 more per month - it's not truly unlimited either but they don't cut you off completely!

Did you have an ATT SIM?

I have heard they are starting to cut off ATT data and want to get away from ATT completely and go with T-mobile.

I too will be leaving ST soon but mostly because my DH can add me to his work plan for around the same price (he couldn't before!) I can get phone upgrades and higher speed data. We will have unlimited talk and text and 4gb data to share for me paying only $50 per month ($5 more than ST.)

I too have an ATT SIM and don't want T-mobile so the entire thing has me worried. I don't get good T-mobile coverage where I live.

Hate to say this, but Straight Talk (and their sibling, Net10) has very strict policies concerning data usage, which is explained in their Terms of Service.

Both Straight Talk and Net10 reserve the right to shut a customer down with absolutely no warning if what they preceive as "data misuse" is suspected. Classic examples that have been well-publicized in the prepaid world are Pandora, Netflix, and any other "data streaming" services that uses a continuous data connection for hours at a time.

Also, even though Straight Talk/Net10 advertises "unlimited" services, they do have a hidden data cap on most devices of 2.5 GB, which through my personal experience, is more than enough data for most people's daily mobile needs. It's also a good idea to take advantage of your in-home Wi-Fi connection, as Wi-Fi usage does not count against the data cap.

For the rest of you who are now concerned about this, no need to worry because there are plenty of apps you can download to monitor your data usage -- my app of choice is "3G Watchdog".

Hope this clears things up...

That is most likley true, DawnM -- seems AT&T raised their wholesale rates to America Movil (Straight Talk's parent company) in a manner where Straight Talk/Net 10 would have to charge their customers more.

It is to my understanding that T-Mobile and Sprint tends to give the best wholesale rates to the prepaid operators.

Lots of changes in the AT&T prepaid world, as they announced some customer-friendly changes -- namely, the addition of 4G services...

AT&T SIM

I had no complaints until today - had been with them since last October.

I'll get a 15% employer discount through T-mobile, so my bill will be less than I had been paying.

I listen to talk radio all day at work via I <3 Radio.

But, I've been doing that for a while.

Ugh! Neither of those work well at my house~!

ATT and Verizon work well though.

DS has a StraightTalk phone that uses the Verizon network. It was explained to me at WalMart that the different phones they offer through ST work on different networks.

If you tend to text and use data most, and don't talk much, there is a prepaid T-Mobile plan for only $30 per month that includes unlimited texting+unlimited data (throttled at 5G/month)+100 talk minutes. Extra minutes are $.10 each I believe, although I don't really talk on my phone much :lmao: so I've never hit that.

But I'm with T-mobile already and the data stinks! Why would it change if I switched to a different plan with T-mobile??

I have T Mobile and have no problem with the data plan. With all of us using data on our phones, I was afraid I would be charged extra or have it shut off when we reached our limit. They told me it would just kick down to 2 g for the remaining cycle. My dd was about to reach her limit and they sent her a text letting her know...

ETA: anytime I did have a problem they were helpful and fixed the problem, call them

I am confused as to how Net10 is different. Both were using T-mobile towers and ST and Net10 are sister companies, using the same compatible T-mobile service.

It isn't -- the only thing that differentiates ST from Net10 is that ST phones/refill cards are sold only at Walmart, whereas Net10 is sold pretty much everywhere else.

Not around here ~ Net10 and ST use Verizon and AT&T towers, ST was great, Net10 is no different!
