I've been off the boards for a while so, please excuse me if this has been disussed. I'm sure it probably has.

I am ignorant on how the all-inclusive exchanges will work. The Paradisus Playa Conchal is listed in Costa Rica as an exchange. We love this resort but, I have no idea how much it will cost. Do you pay entirely with points? Do you pay the all-inclusive fee in cash?

I think you will use your points to book the room and pay cash for the all-inclusive.

My dad traded into RCI via another timeshare and is staying in Cosumel next month. He used pts for the room and paid cash for the all-inclusive part.

The room is covered by the points, the All-Inclusive fee is paid via cash (or credit card, etc) to the resort.

You can find out the rates of the all-inclusive by clicking on the resort from the Disney RCI page. Usually the fees are for two people with additional occupents costing about 30% - 40% of the base rate each. The average prices are around $1,500 in low season to $2,500 + in high season for two for a week.

Unless you are a heavy drinker and eater, I don't see much value in all inclusive resorts, but each person is different.

EDIT: I looked up the resort you referenced and the following are the fees:

Adult Fee: $85.00/Day
Child Fee: $65.00/Day

This is actually one of the lowest rates I have seen for an all inclusive.

Thanks for the info everyone!

I have stayed at this resort and the $85 a day IS a good price. IMO This also includes the minibar! There are several restaurants, an awesome pool bar and quite a few resort activities. It is as beautiful as the photos!!

All-inclusive is probably more than you might pay if you pay as you go....but at the same time--it is a vacation from thinking about paying....I have stayed at regular, gorgeous resorts- and I can tell you that when the kids were at the pool and they wanted a soda at $4 a pop...you tend to think twice before having a soda....If the kids ordered something that they did not like, I felt bad that I just paid $15-$25 for it, and ended up eating it myself, or started ordering with an eye on the notion that I would end up eating some or all of whatever the kids ordered....Maybe I am cheap...but I could not help skipping the $50 breakfasts after a day or two and went out and got some bowls, some milk and some cereal at the nearby overpriced grocery instead....

-then there are such things as non-motorized watersports, tennis, exercise rooms...all things that I have seen charged for-- anywhere from $10 to $20 per person per day in the ala carte resorts...

- at an all-inlusive, you drink when you are thirsty, try some new foods without worrying about the cost, you eat what you want, play tennis or pool or ride bikes, etc... when you want -it is already paid for...more expensive? probably-but a different kind of vacation than you would have had ala carte.
