All inclusive in Puerto Rico

My 2 friends are looking for an all inclusive hotel in Puerto Rico to stay in over Feb break. They do not have children and mostly want to relax and lay on the beach. If there were some activities or sightseeing they would prob take the time out to go. Anyone have any ideas? I have never been there so I have no ideas...lol Just thought I would ask here!! Thanks in advance.

We stayed at the Intercontinental. We loved it! The resort was beautiful. The beach was beautiful and relaxing. The pool was fabulous. I highly recommend it.

We were there for a week. There are great restaurants on the property (Ruth's Chris Steakhouse is one.....YUM) and within walking distance.
Besides relaxing for hours on the beautiful beach at the resort, during the week that we were there we also toured the two forts in San Juan, visited the rainforest, went horseback riding on the beach (another location, of course), did a guided fishing trip, toured Old San Juan, visited Ponce de Leon's house, and DH went diving. The resort had a salsa band playing on weekend nights by the pool. We enjoyed that on the nights it was available.

I have always wanted to do an all inclusive vacation. How does that work? Do you get your money's worth? Are your meals restricted? Are activities included? I am always on a budget which is why I never tried but wanted to.
Any advice would be appreciated.

All Inclusive Resorts are extremely limited in Puerto Rico. I think The Rio Mar may have a limited all inclusive package. Copa Marina has one but I'm not familiar with the property.

El Conquistador Resort is my favorite but it is not an all inclusive.

Getting your $'s worth is subjective to the person. Our family really likes all inclusives and we do seek them out. Mexico an The Dominican republic have lots! Beaches is a great All Inclusive for families and Sandals for Couples. They aren't all created equally but you get what you pay for. Some are an excellent value. Being on a budget can actually be a good thing with AI's since you know your bottom line before you travel. Iberostar offers some great resorts that are all inclusive and Paradisius too.

PR does not have the all inclusives that some other islands have. The above suggestions are good. There are more restaurants and bars, nightlife, if you stay in downtown San Juan, near or in Old San Juan. Resorts in the rest of PR are quieter. I haven't been to Vieques so I can't comment on what's there. DH travels to PR on business and sometimes I get to tag along.

...we've stayed here TWICE in a 10-year span and both times the rooms were very moldy smelling. While I agree tht the lobby, casino, pool area, and beach are awesome, I would not stay here again...JMHO I much prefer The Condado Plaza (stayed HERE 3 times!) - great location, fantastic casino, and lots of dining choices...the pool and beach area are awesome too!

...are they willing to go outside the San Juan area?? If they are, they might want to look into Villa Montana - it's on [almost] the other side of the island [you can take a flight to BQN in Aguadilla] and is VERY secluded and quiet, with a private beach and a restaurant that is LITERALLY on the beach!

Well, I am sorry to read that you had this experience. We did not have that issue at all. We are Ambassador Club members (with many, many points due to DH's work travel) so we were upgraded to a higher room/location (club level). Maybe that was the difference. I am not sure. I can just say that we did not have the moldy smell issue at all.

...perhaps, but both times our party had a total of 3 rooms - they ALL smelled the same!
