OK decided next summer to go on an all-inclusive vacation. Want to go to DR first week in July...

we have two boys who will be 14 and 12! So important to have activities for them....

Any recommendations on where to stay? also where is the best place to book it - need airfare from NY/NJ area..looking to go for about 5 or 6 nights.

Thanks,

Lisa

I am also on the lookout. I found dreams punta Cana and magestic colonial. You will find airfare to be the most expensive. I am seeing no less than $600 per person. I would love to hear some reviews.

wow - that would make it a pretty expensive vacation...

I was looking to spend about 3000.00...

thought DR was the best priced?

If you have not checked Trip Advisor (tripadvisor.com) I would highly recommend it to both of you. We are thinking about Aruba next year and have been scouring the website for useful assistance. I find most of the posters on Trip Advisor to be as helpful and friendly as those on the Disboards.

We've done Club Med twice. It is not one of the cheaper resorts but, it is one of the safest and has the most activities.

The Club's Chief changes every year so a lot of the staff changes every year. Check Trip Advisor to see the 'mood' of the resort.

I am looking at April which is more expensive than summer but the cheapest I am seeing is about $4500-$5000 all included. Airfare is big bucks and I have a family of 4.

We have gone the last few Christmas weeks to Iberostar Bavaro. We love it! And the kids/teens we see there seem to be having a great time! I have also done the Iberostar product in Mexico and think overall they are great!

Check the Apple Vacations and Liberty Travel website From where the OP is they often have decent charter deals and it may turn out to be much cheaper to buy a package then to do plane booking separate.

I will actually be going to the DR in about a month. I have watched airfares on and off for a few years and you will be hard pressed to ever get under $600 (we are paying much more), so $3000 is iffy, depending on how budget or deluxe you require the resort to be. And the 1st week of July is very popular as well, for both airfare and resort pricing. Since you are planning ahead though, who knows, you may be able to get a good package if you look constantly. Have you considered Cancun? It has always turned out to be a less expensive alternative for us. We wanted something different though so we will be staying at the NOW Larimar in Punta Cana. At least you only need one room, and with the 12 yo you may get a free hotel stay, so it would be just the airfare for him. Take advantage, it is your last year!

Stayed here in May. We loved it. Beautiful hotel, grounds/pools kept clean, beach was amazing, staff super friendly.

We were there for a wedding and got a group discount, so I can't tell you the price.

We stayed at Majestic Elegance in Feb., and loved it! We didn't have kids with us, but we saw a lot there and it looked like they were having fun, lots of pool activities and nightly entertainment. The pool was fabulous!
