All I Want For Christmas Is an Okapi, a Dinosaur, a Herd of Elephants and ...

I always love the GMR! I love how when the good guy comes back he says "I told you I was just going to get popcorn!"

I don't know what it is that fascinates Brooklynn, other than she has always loved movies in general, but she loves this ride.

If the bridge to AoA is closed (but why, it would look wierd), then you could just walk over on the sidewalk that is back by the far parking lot of the 50's. That's where we always parked, and it was very close to AoA buildings. I couldn't imagine how they could block that sidewalk off.

Ohhh..... I DON'T like the Wizard of Oz! Never have.... maybe it was the flying monkeys that turned me off?? Whatever it is, I always avoid it and threaten my DD's when they think it is fun to watch to torment their mother.

CanadianWDWfan: There is a Disney Outlet in Vegas! I've never been to it, so I can't tell you where it is at, but I've heard good things about it. I am not a gambler and we only stay when we make the long car trips back to see our families in South Dakota/Minnesota. I try not to spend too much time in Vegas.. it gives me a headache. But, do try and see the fountains in front of the Bellagio, the shops in the Venetian, and try the hamburgers, fries & milkshakes (fries are my FAVORITE!!! mmmmm) at IN N OUT (there is one on the street that goes by NY NY). I do love how the city is changed when all the lights come on at night! Have fun, it is definitely an experience!

I have not walked that 50's parking lot path toward that way. I feel like that's a 'fail' as a good Pop-er. :upsidedow I just hope they make iy easy on everyone and open the bridge eventually. The only reason I think they might not is if they want to deter pool-hopping from Pop to AoA.

I can remember being not so much a fan of the flying monkeys when I was little.

Baylor loves the GMR too! Well we all enjoy it. When we get to Oz and the host tells us we aren't in Kansas anymore I always think, you have no idea!

We should do a play of a Tennessee version of Wizard of Oz. I can hear it now: Pay no attention to the still behind the curtain! ;) Dorothy's bike could be a mule, and the famous words would be, "They ain't no place like home."

LOVE the GMR!!! I took pictures of signs this time to try to mix it up...

Maybe to countdown to Disney this summer, I will pick some from the montage!

I got a picture of the REWARD signs in the western scene, but it was blurry. I feel like I have taken a picture of almost everything in that place, if not close up, in general scene pictures. I want a picture of the Hidden Donald, but I'm not sure exactly where to find it, and then I would have to have time to zoom in, too, so I don't really ever count on getting it.

Oh, I love that picture of Dick van Dyke, Walt Disney, and Julie Andrews. Seriously, three of my favorite people ever.
I love the Great Movie Ride. I feel like it's so underrated these days.

If Brooklynn is any indication of the next generation, it's going to have a resurgence of popularity. :)

We are starting to watch Nemo in the car on the iPad and Seth always cries when Bruce shows up. Since I can't reach back there and skip to the next scene while driving, I usually turn it down to almost mute so it's not as loud to scare him. He does NOT like Bruce!

Brooklynn does not like loud parts of movies, either. Bella is in the stage where when a character is not on the screen, she wants to know where they are. She is also concerned about everyone's mommy. She often says, "Where him's mommy?", especially when a character is in distress. It upsets her a little. It is also very telling about how much she feels like her mommy keeps her world safe and well. :lovestruc

We love the GMR too! And this would be one of my favorite movie scenes ever. I love Nemo! I think it is one of Disney's best.

We got the gangster for the first time on our last trip, but I have to say that I like the cowboy best.

I have a question though... I keep hearing people say that there is a scary alien at one point in the ride, but we have never seen it. Three times and no alien, am I missing something?

I love Nemo, too! :thumbsup2

We almost always get the gangster. I think I have had the cowboy about three times.

The alien is a big ugly metallic looking thing on the right as you go through that scene, but honestly, I think the woman on the left is way more creepy looking! I can't even look at her, and I wish they would change that whole scene out for something new. Maybe you can youtube it and see it.

You got some good pics in the Great Movie ride. I enjoy the Wizard of Oz part the most.

We got the gangster for the first time this past trip and Lexi was all scared.
We were in the front row and she did not like the gun fight.
Our car broke down during the ride and it was funny to see him try to stay in character.
He was making small talk with the lady behind us...while they tried to get us fixed up and moving again.
I prayed he wouldn't say anything to Lexi. I had no idea how she would react to him.

Thanks Wig'd, Poolrat, sunnystace and <3myfamily for all your Las Vegas tips.
I will be travelling with 3 Vegas 'experts' so I know I will be shown a great time. We are definitely seeing a show.
Two of the ladies work in a travel agency so I'm waiting to see what they come up with. I think Bally's is the one they want.
I figured they would have a Disney Store there but I didn't know about Basin. :lovestruc
I do want to see the fountain show but I can assure you I will not be going on any roller coasters.
I know it will be no Disney...but that is okay.

I'm trying to decide on our ADR's for August...our window opens up in about 2 weeks.
It's so hard cause there are so many great choices. Somehow I need to pare down the list.

I can't recall ever being broken down in that ride. Maybe I could get some non-blurry pictures if we did. :goodvibes

If I ever go to Vegas, I want to go with experts. That's not a place I would want to be without knowing all of the ins and outs about how to get around and what to do. Sounds like you guys will have a ton of fun!

Check the time on the mayor's watch, in case you ever need that for a million dollar win on a Disney trivia contest. You never know.

 I will keep this in mind then! :thumbsup2

Happy Monday, friends! Hope you all had a nice weekend!! :)

Isn't it WILD that it's February already?! Where does the time go? I do get to head to Chicago to see the babies this weekend, though, so that's a good thing!!

Have a super day!!

If you want to get your check engine light checked for free, take it to an auto parts store like Autozone or O'Reillys (not sure what you have in your area) but they will read the codes on your car for free. Most of the time, the check engine light just means your gas cap isn't on tight.

Thanks, I'll definitely keep that in mind! :goodvibes

Five weeks! :cool1:

I hope your car doesn't cost much to fix. It's good that your mom can take you. It is always good to have a reliable back-up. :)

I don't think it's too bad. The garage we go to costs a lot less than what they'd charge at the Ford dealership.

I was so glad my mom could drive me today! I'm trying not to miss my Monday/Wednesday classes at all because we have Red Sox tickets for my birthday in April, which is on a Monday. It's a night game and we could probably make it if we left right after my last class but I'd really like to be able to take the whole day off so we can hang out in Boston and maybe meet up with Meg. We also have a DIS meet in the works for the 18th or 19th of this month :yay:

Loved the pictures in the TS meet and greet area. I have yet to make it through that line. I really like the picture of Brooklyn blasting off. It's so sweet to see Bella posing.

I love the GMR. It's a must see every trip. I love the walk down memory lane and all the emotions the different scenes give me.

We finally made it to a Disney Store. We went to the one in New Orleans on the 29th after visiting the Audubon Zoo. I got a Pooh jacket to wear at Disney later this month. Dennis got the best picture of the Mingos. I couldn't help but think of Bella.

For sure my favorite part of the GMR is the montage at the end. Because, honestly, who doesn't love a montage?

 I will keep this in mind then! :thumbsup2

When you win a bunch of money, you can send me a souvenir from the Disney trip you take with it. :thumbsup2

We did.
We had a house filled with kids and laughter on Saturday,
and men and sports,
and a cat and a dog,
and lots of food. :goodvibes

Have fun with your little ones this weekend. Weekends with little ones are the ones I really look forward to. :lovestruc

Nice pictures from GMR. I love the wizard of oz. It's one of my all time favorite movies.

At least it has enough lighting in GMR to get some 'see-able' pictures.

Thanks, I'll definitely keep that in mind! :goodvibes

I'm glad you're getting to get together twice. :woohoo:

A reliable mechanic is a treasure. ::yes:: We are lucky enough to have a family friend who owns his own garage. He lives near my school, so when we need work done, he drops his truck off, takes whatever vehicle we have, drives it to work, fixes it, then brings it back at the end of the day. We don't sit and wait anywhere for any time at all. It is fabulous, and we are so very appreciative of him.

You should go in and have fun with the kids posing and acting silly. :)

Every time I see the Tarazn scene, I go waaay back in time, too. I remember seeing Tarzan movies when I was very young.

You'll have to show us a picture of the jacket and the mingos! :yay:

I want that orange Toy Story Mania t-shirt!! SO CUTE!

In 4 months, 2 weeks, and 4 days, you can walk right in there and purchase it! :dance3:

For sure my favorite part of the GMR is the montage at the end. Because, honestly, who doesn't love a montage?

It is fun to see so many 'snippets' of old favorites in that couple of minutes. I always think of my dad during that montage, because he loved all of those war movies and westerns.

Happy 12,000 posts MeMom.!!!!!party:

I would never have noticed. Thanks for the party, but did you bring cake, too? ;)

Since we're having a 12,000 post party, we should do it in Disney World, shouldn't we? :cool1:

This was after we left The Great Movie Ride.

And let's have characters, too.

Look at Pluto. He's saying, "You guys - again?!?!?"

If I had known there was going to be a party, I would have dressed up.

Naah, I prolly wouldn't have.

We have been in Art of Animation so many times for so many different things, but we have yet to do a drawing class. I wanted to do it with Brooklynn in October, but it never happened. We have 13 days this summer, so surely we can do it one of those days. :thumbsup2

Just wonderin' -
What does it mean if a certain teacher who will go unnamed puts her lunch bag in her desk tub for daily work and then goes to put the morning worksheets on telling time in the refrigerator? :upsidedow

Not that that has ever happened three minutes ago or anything. ;)

It means that she is a little :scared::crazy2::faint: hehe....just kidding. :rotfl2:

Everytime I want to go in to the Art of Animation area Creighton falls asleep. :headache:

It means that a certain teacher is trying to do too many things at one time - or that she is in need of a little R&R (at Disney of course) ;)

Love the new pics - we went to the Art of Animation for the first time on our last trip - it was a great way to spend some time out of the heat.

Hope everyone has a great Tuesday!!!

Aww, such cute character pictures! I still can't get over how empty the park was so early!

:rotfl2:...I agree that a certain teacher (shall go unnamed) needs a vacation where she only needs to think about which park do I want to go to.

Oh we all have days like that...:grouphug:

It wasn't until after reading one of your past TR's that we ever wandered into Art Of Animation.
We love it in there and try to go every trip. :thumbsup2

Lexi enjoys anytime she can get a pic with Mickey!

Glad to hear you had a fun family weekend. :goodvibes

:cake:
I brought some cake for the party!! Congrats!

I still can't get over the pictures with NO people!! Where was everyone? This WAS Christmas week, no?

I just love that Bella is in these character pics now and Jill doesn't have to hold her! That's so cool!

Don't worry about the lunch/paper mix up. Happens all the time to some of us. I won't say anything about "as we get older" or anything about that. ;) Maybe someone stayed up too late the night before? Too much super bowl partying??

I would never have noticed. Thanks for the party, but did you bring cake, too? ;)

YAY Cake!!! :cool1:

Oh Trust me there are there, they are just sleeping in.

I will just say you are ready for lunch.

This is totally off topic... but I just have to share some very exciting news. We are getting an Earl of Sandwich in Downtown Disney at Disneyland!!! I'm sooo excited, and I knew the Dis Family would understand. I can now get my Earl fix without having to go to WDW!:banana::banana::banana:

Okay, now back to Memom's wonderful trip report....
