Let me tell you about my last trip to DW, the "Trip from Hell".
Mears transportation stranded us at the airport for three hours because we needed a wheelchair lift bus for my eldest son, supposedly prearranged. Dixie Landings screwed up our reservations. Wrong rooms. We were forgotten and ignored at the DL restaurant . My youngest got very sick and we lost 2 days time at the parks. Terrible food everywhere but Narcoosees. Cinderellas castle food SUCKED for my 40th birthday, but my youngest evened it out by blowing lunch all over the bathroom in Cindys castle. More transportation nightmares on site as we wait for handicap busses sometimes for over an hour several times. A round of food poisoning for a couple of us at a seafood buffet. Mears screws up again on a side trip to Sea World, no lift. Another couple of hours lost. Theres more, but you get the point. Anyone else ever have even one problem, or are those posts edited out? I'm going again in December and I just hope it's better than last time.

You went to Hell and back in a handcart, alright! Sorry you suffered this much and I do hope you have a better trip in December. Because you know when you hit rock bottom, the only way is up!

Regarding question about people not having bad times at WDW. I can tell you now, I plan almost all aspects of our trips and as perfect as you want them to be, there will always be forces beyond control that put a damper on things. Most people report bad service, resorts and transportations all the time. But most dont care to share their "dirty laundry" so to speak because this is not the stuff that trip reports to WDW are made of. In my latest TR, (The Legend returns) I have credit cards that are declining (screwed us the whole 14 days we were in the US), drove to tampa and left my football tickets behind and in my latest (Day 6), I have diarhhea (which plagued me for 2 days) and I locked the keys in the car, causing me to wait 40 minutes into the EPCOT carpark and pay a stranger $30 to break in our car!. There are several things I could add but choose not to, like ALWAYS AND WITHOUT FAILURE being selected as the people for Airport wanding, Shoe and bag searches as well as swabbing. It got so bad, my Brother and I walked through Airport Terminals with our shoe laces undone most of the time. So the bad stuff is only revealed as much as the writer wants to reveal.

Despite all of this, I always remember the good times we have and relive those through my TRs. Mentioning the bad stuff means I'm as human as the next person and I hope, it goes toward helping someone avoid our mistakes. Mixing it with the good means I hope someone takes from our experience and uses it better theirs.

I am real sorry you had a bad trip, but I hope you let the DIS Community help you with the next, because there probably isnt a situation that hasnt been mentioned, discussed and resolved through these boards. All the Best.

I am not sure if this is the Poster's first time to WDW but I can tell you about ours!

We HATED it! We did not know where to go, where to eat, where to stand in line even....and this was when it was just the MK! LOLOLOL!

But we kept on going and read....and read...and read! Now that these Boards are here to help Wow! What a difference. As much as I know about WDW...been there 35 times now...I still learn new things from reading these Boards. So Ronomonroe....try again in December and go expecting great things and I am sure it can only get better!!!!!

We have been pretty lucky so far except two years ago when my sister got got sick. They though she had a slight strock but it turned out to be that she was empacted and the heat got to her. After she expelled the blockage she was ok. She had brain surgurey when she was one so they didn't want to let her go. They wanted to drug her for a cat scan but we wouldn't let them because we knew that she was alright. So bottom line she was better the first couple of hours she was sick but stayed from Thursday midday to Saturday morning,(the day we were to leave),
Luckly we planned to go home late so we were able to go to MK for a few hours. This was the worse trip we have had. This trip in June we had rain every day we were there. We didn't get to see to many characters because of the rain so we didn't get to many pictures. We were able to do what we wanted ride wise but didn't get to go to the Liberty Tree Tavern for our dinner with CHip & Dale, minnie mouse,pluto, & goofy. Our RS was on the most wet day of our trip and we couldn't reschedule the dinner so we missed out. There were alot of people so that ment problem with lines and trying to find a seat at pecos bill's restreaunt even cosmo cafe was crowded. So you will face problems everytime but you need to go with the flow and have a good time. Even the trip my sister was in the hospital we still had fun. December is a great time to go the decorations will be up the Osborne light display will be up and smaller crowds. So have a good time and don't sweat the little stuff. I would think to take tiffiany towncar instead of Mears.

Let's see... I first went back when it was only the Magic Kingdom, I next stayed at the Polynesian with a great room facing the Magic Kingdom right on the lagoon, next we stayed at the Floridian and the last time was at Dixie Landings. This time we'll be at Old Key West. I have to say that the first few times the workers fell all over themselves to provide good service, but sadly the last time service was sorely lacking ranging from surly workers to the I-don't-care-attitude, who's next in line? I'm going for the kids, it would not be my choice of a vacation spot.

We just got back last week and our trip didn't go exactly as planned either, but most of our problems weren't caused by Disney...maybe one was, but it was quickly corrected. Actually, the reason I haven't posted a trip report yet is because I can't decided to tell the whole truth & nothing but the truth or leave out the bad parts.LOL

we do not edit out the bad reports......we are vet disney people and we did our first wheelchair person with us.....my mother in law..this past April...we didn';t have a problem with the wheelchair....and the busses were very good at taking care of her and the chair ......I think I understand that you were very disappointed with your visit.....I am glad that you are coming back in December......thanks for the report

ummmm,let me tell you about our first trip as a family of four.

First off, the driver was late to pick us up at home. Seems there is a guy at DH's work who has almost the same name as him. The car went to his house instead of ours. We had to drive into Logan airport in Boston. Accident on the Mass. Pike and traffic was backed up for miles. We get to the airport to find out that our flight had left...no, it hadn't! We managed to get on the flight only because there had been delays. Lucky? We thought so at the time - but we should have taken it as an omen of things to come.

Stayed at the Beach Club for the first time. Beautiful resort with a lovely view of the boardwalk.

DS5 was an absolute pill most of the trip. Whining, complaining, whatever. DD15 months ended up being sick. We knew something was wrong when she had projectile vomitting after her bottles. It was especially interesting when she did that at the France pavillion. All over her clothes. I had to strip her down to her diaper and then take her back to the resort. (With people looking at me wondering why I had my baby with no clothes on at night)

We ended up needing to take her to the emergency room at the Celebration hospital where she was diagnosed with a double ear infection. SInce she was already on amoxxicilin (sp) due to kidney reflux, they needed to give her antibiotics through a shot in her thighs. So there I am, lying on the hospital table with my screaming, sick baby as they are giving her these shots that they say will be painful for a while. I am silently crying my eyes out.

One morning I was giving DD a bottle and she threw it up all over me, her, the bed, part of the wall and some on the floor. Where do you start to clean that?? I tried to get her in the tub but DS was using the bathroom so I had to wait. He was in there pooping. But for part of it he didn't sit on the toilet...so it went on the floor. And when he opened the door, well, it got all over the bottom of the door...yuck! So there I was, in my vomit encrusted clothes wiping poop off the bottom of the door and out of the grout on the floor. I wanted to be home right then and there.

BU the vacation did go on and we managed to have some fun. The Tapestry of Nations parade was a big hit and we watched it as often as possible.

The flight home was the pits. We were on delay due to the weather. We finally made it on the plane only to be delayed again due to a bad storm coming in. So there we sat on the runway...with the wind blowing, the dark sky, lightining going off and loud cracks of thunder shaking the plane. Did I mention that I hate to fly??? Things did clear up rather quickly and we were off. DD was over tired and cried for most of the 3 hour flight. I think I cried a lot too. When did she fall asleep? When we were making our desent.

I swore I wouldn't go back again for YEARS! Well, that was in May of 2000 and we went back that September for my birthday!

Last November DH got REAL sick and we had to have a doctor come to our room. He had caught some nasty virus. So I had the kids alone for 2 full days. Did I mention that it was rainy & cold then? The kids were wearing yellow rain ponchos...like everyone else in the parks. I was so afraid that I was going to lose them but they were very well behaved.

I got sick the end of that vacation and ended up getting real sick in the bathroom of the plane when westopped in North or South Carolina. I also got sick in the town car on the way home from the airport..fortunately I thought to bring one of the air sickness bags from the plane with me. The kids were in the back seat with me and DD was holding her nose and DS was gagging.

Oh, we have had our share of Disney disasters...but we will still go back. We are bound & determined to have a good time! I hope our next trip will be filled with more good times than bad..

I didn't know if I should respond or not, but then I decided "why not? She's a mommy too".

I laughed so hard at your last post -- Didn't laugh AT you, though -- was laughing as I saw myself in your post. a We've had some VERY similar circumstances, and if I don't laugh about some of them, the crying just gets on my family's nerves.

Before I got married and had kids I probably would have been appalled at such descriptions. But now, projectile vomiting and other nasties have become routine. It's just life.

There's still plenty of magical experiences if you look hard enough.

Oh Jill, I am not being mean, I have a year and a half year old, but I had to LOL on that one! Wouldn't ya know, when I was reading this and laughing, I had to answer the phone at work! I feel your pain, really I do.

My brother and his wife and 2 girls just returned. This was their first trip to WDW. The girls are 10 and 12. I strongly suggested Cirque de Soleil to them so that's where they decided to go on their first night. While trying to enjoy the first evening my sister in law started with terrible pains and was rushed to the hospital with appendicitis. She had emergency surgery and spent the whole week in the hospital. They released her just in time to catch a flight home.

Oh my gosh, KarenM. Spending your vacation having your appendix removed sort of ruins the vacation, doesn't it? Welcome to the DIS, by the way. I'm glad you decided to join us.

Ronomonroe, I'm glad you decided to join us too. I know they don't "edit" the bad stuff from the trip reports. I've read lots of reports that told the good, the bad <b>and</b> the ugly. I don't think any trip anywhere is perfect. Sorry to hear you had such a terrible time.

Let's all just wait a second, catch our collective breath and look at this post / incident for what is was, bad luck and bad timing. A stomach bug will make food taste bad and kids vomit. No fault of Walt. Mears Transport screwed up. No fault of Walt. Etc. Etc. I agree with the previous posters that as close to being perfect as WDW is, it, like everything human borne, has flaws. Why is there always a conspiracy theory? Hiding posts and sweeping bad trips into some black hole is just crap. People have ok times, good times, great times and WOW times. Sounds like this was a ok time exaggerated into a rough time by lack of patience. Sorry, but I calls em' as I sees em'.

Don't let this trip set the standard for future trips to WDW.

We must also use wheelchair transportation from the airport to WDW. Disney transportation is wonderful but like you we had our problems-----as not all busses are wheelchair accessible. We had our biggest hassles in '93. I learned that traveling to parks via monorail, boat, or walking was the answer. For our next trips I booked a 1 bedroom at the BWV. We are not members of DVC--although I wish we were---I would get the best deal I could--ususally the best deal was the Ap rate---and use anything but a bus to get around. We would walk thru worldshow case --and then ride the monorail if we were going to MK. We would do the same on the return trip. As my husband can travel with out a companion I would sometimes let him take the monorail and I would ride the bus--It was quicker for me and I didn't have to walk so far.

Another plus is the full kitchen at the Villas---the extra cost of the one bedroom at a deluxe resort was evened out by the money we saved eating meals in the villa.

My husband raves about the service he gets while a guest of Disney. It does take a little extra planning but being in a wheelchair shouldn't take away from your experience at WDW. I hope you were given the park guide specifically written for quests with mobility issues.

There is a board on this site that gives ideas and shares experiences for the phycially challenged. I spend alot of time reading the threads before a trip to WDW the people on the board have sooooooooo much great information---and they'll share it for FREE.
