Anyone notice a decline in the speed that All Ears updates restaurant menus? Pretty disappointing lately.

Well, they can only update them as often as people send them in. I haven't really noticed a decline. I still think they have the most up to date reviews and menus.

You can't expect an unofficial site to have the most up to date menus. They have to wait until they acquire new menus to put them up.

There are a couple menu changes that Disney has made and Allears has not updated that I noticed only because I used them to decide what to try and some of it was not on the menu any longer. Not to mention the Mexican counter service needs updating. I still think its the best option out there for viewing menus ahead of time. But yes I have noticed.

One should never use a menu on an unofficial site to make a definite decision, as menus do change relatively often, and unofficial sites are just that - unofficial. They are best used as guidelines to the type of food served, but you can't expect with any certainty that every item on an unofficial menu will be there when you arrive. If you're going to a restaurant because you absolutely want to order one specific item you read about, there's always a chance that item won't be there anymore.

Even though Disney has menus on its own site for a lot of the restaurants, they're all marked "Prices and menu items are subject to change without notice" so you probably can't be definite about those, either.

Maybe it is me but I think you would get a better answer by posing the ? to their website. . . . .

Actually there has been a spate of updates in the last couple of days.

However, in general there is generally a lull in the updates during the fall (sept-early nov) and late winter/early spring (mid-Jan-Feb) time frames. The website in general, relies on readers to provide menus. Because of this you will see many updates right after the major travel holidays.

If you rely on the menus on allearsnet, then you should reciprocate by gathering menus when you visit and forward them to allears.

I know I do.

As a PP said, allears is dependent on people sending in current menus to them so it's not their fault if the menu is outdated. There are also some menus on the official WDW site, but not as many.

The counter service menu in Mexico is dated 11/09 so perhaps it's been updated recently.

I find that they are worth every penny I pay them, and quite a bit more.

(Something about gift horses springs to mind...)

Since WDW site has the menus online I guess that may be why they have not copied them an added them...also, we go to Disney alot and I always take menu pics and email them to Allears but they never update them with the new ones I send in

Considering that menus change all the time, I think they do an admirable job keeping up. I've found the menus to be pretty close to what is offered. Sure, there may be some changes but heck, the folks that run that site are human, they have a real life as well as the online life. Since we aren't paying to check out the menus, I figure it's all good.
In fact, after 20+ trips to WDW, All Ears is still the site I head to for menus.

I used both the menus listed both on the DIS and on All Ears in planning our recent trip. I thought they both were pretty right on with what was listed on the menus when we actually dined at the restaurants we chose.

I wonder if fewer people are taking the time to report back on menus/changes now that Disney has .pdf menus for their restuarants on the official website? I know personally I still prefer the unofficial sites for ease of use and navigation, but with most of the menus available from Disney, it could be that people aren't supplying Allears with as much new information as they did in the past.

I think All Ears has done a great job over the years with the menus and information and I'm appreciative of their service. I don't complain because they make my Disney life a lot easier :surfweb::yay:

It would be almost impossible for any unofficial site to keep totally up with WDW menus. As TDC Nala notes, the official site may have a hard time as well.
Almost all WDW menus are printed on a single sheet of paper and many are even dated. At some spots (like California Grill) a menu item such as a particular flatbread can change from one week to the next.
I don't like the official site for ease of use and would prefer to use our site (and ALLEARS) for menu checks. But it will be interesting to see if the availability of menus on the official site will make our site and ALLEARS less inclined to keep up with all the changes.....

Me too, still a great AllEars fan. I use them a lot for my planning. I accept that there may be some changes and accept this. To their credit, at least they have the date when the menus were last updated - many unofficial sites don't, which leaves you groping in the dark somewhat ....

I check menus not for specific items but for the general feel for what the place offers. Does it have sandwiches for lunch? What kind of sandwiches? Is a standard burger available just in case something changes and I don't like anything else? What are the prices? Is everything over $20? Do they have "weird" sides?

I don't think it's good idea to get fixated on one menu item and expect it to be there when you go. I have a lunch reservation for LeCellier and the menu at allears right now is from May of 09. I really want that prime rib sandwich but you know what? If it's not there, I can get any of their other sandwiches because I know they do have sandwiches and they are reasonable priced. That's what I use the menus for.

Use any menu as a guide, not a set-in-stone decision maker.

I think they do a great service. All of their menus are dated on the links page. Most other sites may or may not have the date on the menu itself and don't include date on their links page.
