All booked up? (Oct)

I've never tried to plan a last-minute Disney trip, so forgive my ignorance ... but is all of WDW really booked up in early October? I cannot find availability, even in the expensive categories, for anything for three nights or so! (It actually shows prices when I search, then when I click to each resort it says no availability)

OK, maybe I exaggerated. I did find one or two things for the second weekend in Oct. But still, it seems very booked ... I thought Oct was a slow time!

I have heard that there is a lot of demand. The Food and Wine Festival is bringing a lot more people, and I believe there is a very large convention the first full week of October. I also believe (could be wrong) that they may have availability for a week's stay but not for a few days. My brother had a hard time getting a package for 3 days in early October. I think that you might have better luck just calling.

October may have been a slow time once, but no longer. There's the Food & Wine Festival at Epcot, and the Halloween parties are in full swing. Both are enormously popular events. Throw in some school holidays, and you've got a busy month.

Also, conventions fill Disney resorts in October, particular the Gartner Symposium, which is the largest symposium of IT professionals and brings . That takes place the first week in October and they use YC/BC, the Swan & Dolphin, and BWI for the actual conference, and put attendees up at all the deluxe resorts, plus CSR and CBR. They have a notice on their website that all onsite hotels have sold out for the conference, which is why you're seeing no availability for that week. Gartner really fills the place up.

I was trying for late Oct and also had trouble - online was only showing All Star Sports as an option. I called, though, and the CM on the phone was able to give me a few more options. So if you haven't tried calling, I would try that!

I had the same problem. The first time I called they told me there was no availability for my dates 10/22-25. I called right back and talked to a different CM and I was able to book all 3 nights at All Star Sports.

I was just going to post the same thing! Just looked at booking one night the 3rd week of October and there's very little left and the prices are crazy! Bummer!

I'm going the last two weeks of October and was surprised by how little availability there was. I have a friend who is awesome and let me use her CM discount for part of my stay, but for the rest of my stay I felt I was lucky to get into Pop (where I was hoping for on a Value level) I would have liked more options for Moderates as I might have stayed at one of those, but since they didn't seem available for my length of stay, I went with Pop. No complaints, I love Pop, but I was definitely surprised at how little seemed left at the time that I booked it.

Oh I feel your pain!! I had so much trouble finding a room. Kept trying and finally got one at POR with a Florida resident discount. Just keeping checking!
I checked several times a day and found that one. It was busy last year, granted it was during Halloween.

I agree! It seems there aren't really any "slow" times anymore :(.

Whenever I have trouble finding a room, I call them directly at the hotel I want to stay at - it works everytime because they are much closer to the action.

October is one of the busiest times of the year anymore...gets busier every year. When I first moved here 14 years ago you could walk thru the MK and not see many other people the first few weeks of Oct., last year it was shoulder to shoulder people whenever I went. Food and Wine, free dining, and LOTS of kids on fall breaks. But, things do open up...keep checking.

What's strange is that I went on Priceline to check for other hotels and they had more Disney hotels at better prices than the Disney website did for my dates.

Having this same issue. I need 3 nights for a quick trip (10/14-10/17) but can't book them however if I search each individual night the same room class at the same resort is available for each individual night. So I called to see if they could help me and two different reps were unable to book them as one reservation. If I want them I will have to book each night individually and run the risk of having to switch rooms.

Because of this I just went ahead and decided not to go. We're headed to Uni for a short stay instead now.
