All About Fixed Weeks (RIV/CCV/AUL/VGF/POLY/TOWER/VHD/FWC Charts)

I did the same analysis before buying my two fixed weeks at Riv in late May and also decided on week 39 as one of them for all the reasons you noted.

The fact that Week 39 decreased significantly in points since the last point adjustment + it being next to a week that’s almost 40 pts more…seemed like a better hedge than others.

Plus, down the road I could actually see myself using it - staying at Riv during F+W and potentially battling fewer crowds sounds good to me!

Lastly, I would probably go with 114 + 86 +50 just to give yourself some options if you needed/wanted to sell either smaller contract.

Good luck with your decision!

When Disney updated the FW points charts in 2023, Week 39 fully fell in September which is rare. Then they didn't update the FW point requirement for that week since they didn't change any of the monthly point charts. Looking at the next 15 years of dates for Week 39 and there are only 3 years where the FW doesn't already come out equal or cheaper than booking on points using the current point charts! Any week 39 that includes 2 October dates breaks even on the current points, more than 2 October days comes up net positive even after accounting for the 10% premium. Needle in the haystack when it comes to FW!

I like your advice on the 114+86+50. Gives me more options should I decide to downsize while still keeping DVC-Y. I also don't expect much price difference on the resale market between an 86, 68, and 50 point contract. The 114 point contract will also be attractive as it will be a FW and still a small point commitment.

I am sold on Week 39 at this point. Thanks for your input! Now the question is do I have the patience to wait until the date I previously told my guide I would be buying or call him sooner?!

Going with 300 points at RIV here. Emailed my guide last night and she is scheduling a zoom before the incentive change so we can see both incentives and get the better of the two (or wait if we want to see Poly Tower intro offers and the new incentives are the same or better).

Doing fixed weeks with week 39 (114 pts) and week 50 (135pts) in standard studios plus a 51 point extra contract. We could have just added a single point to one of the fixed week contracts as well to get to 250 if we weren't going for the 300 point level.

As is we will be able to sell any 1 of the 3 contracts if needed and keep direct benefits, but not quite able to sell 2. We would sell some resale points in an emergency first anyway.
Did you happen to get a list of available standard studios? I was looking at either a week 7 or week 40-46, but am somewhat flexible and could do a lower point week and add on a 50 point contract. I emailed my guide but haven't heard back yet.

I love that you landed on doing a Zoom with your guide right before the incentive change. I might be asking for their details if mine continues to ghost me!

I asked my guide when we were talking. She said that none of the standard studio weeks were sold out. I don't think many people do fixed weeks so none of the rooms have hit their 35% maximum.

But weirdly enough their fixed week list lists the point totals for the tower studio fixed weeks, but she said they don't (and never have) actually offered those at RIV

Love the idea of a Zoom call - that is so great!! #week39neighbors 8-)

Great, thanks! It seems like such a no brainer to me, once you understand the ins and outs of how it works.

Unfortunately I think the majority of owners buy in without knowing all of the ins and outs lol. The people on these forums are not the average owner.

But now you are definitely ahead of the game since you are learning them

I would like to know if so! I was considering it since they are so hard to book, but when I was talking to my guide she said they don't do the tower studios. Then she sent the list and I saw they had the points listed for them. I mentioned it on our next call and she said that she noticed that too and thought it was strange since they don't offer them. I asked if it was because they sold out and she said no, they just don't actually offer them, probably due to their limited number.

I inquired too and they said the same thing. At first I was bummed but realistically I’m not sure I could handle being in a Tower Studio for a full week…so maybe it’s for the best! 🤣

I bought a standard studio but they were offering towers when I bought in Oct/Nov. @Tatebeck. The fixed week chart they sent me had tower studios on there
Interesting. They are still on the chart they sent me! Should I try and pry for more info out of them? lol

Maybe they just sold out of a bunch of weeks quickly due to small number of them and then stopped them all together?

Yeah I don't really know if I would actually end up using it. It would have been more for resale/renting value since they are so hard to book

Actually, after thinking about it, did you actually inquire about a tower studio and they said it was available? Or are you just going off of the chart that seems to (still!) be incorrect?

Oh, I want to do that. When did she schedule the zoom for? Do you know how far in advance they'll have the new incentive info? I want to float this idea past my guide...

I don't have an exact time yet. This morning she said "once we get closer to the summer promotion, I would like to schedule a quick zoom meeting. I will reach out to you in a week or so as I get more information"

I don't know if they actually get any info ahead of time or if she is just going to schedule it within the last couple days of the current promo

I always thought they aren’t told the incentives until just before the new ones come out and even if they do have a few days notice they’re not really supposed to say anything?

I know some people had gotten hints before this most recent cycle that they should just wait to hear the new incentives (as in they’d likely be better just wait) but it was a barely there suggestion…which tbf is still better then no knowledge but I’m not sure they can tell you prescise details until the morning of.

My understanding is that when the resort opened they did not offer tower room FW. Then they were released as available options but they've since been pulled again.

I did ask about the tower studio because I was going to originally only purchase 150 and they said they had it but not for the weeks I wanted (48-50). I was trying to get a cheap TS (under 100 pointer) and then just add on to that to get to 150.

Afterwards I decided screw it, I'll just get a standard studio because that's what my family is a lot more likely to actually want to stay in and they had it for the weeks I wanted and got suckered into buying 135+50 instead of my originally intended 150.

My guide said he checked every week and there were no Tower studios available. This was on June 1.
