Alien Encounter Changing

The first time we rode AE was in 2000, the first time we had gone as a family. My DDs were 7 and 2 at the time. We did child swap, my DH went in with my DD. I waited with the little one in the gift shop and was EXTREMELY anxious when a group came out with some teenage girls looking very upset. I was tempted to barge up to the nearest CM and demand the ride be stopped because my baby was in there and I needed her out NOW!!!!!! Well, I decided to wait. Well, when they came out, my sweet little baby had the biggest grin on her face and practically drug me back around to do it all over again refusing to tell me one thing about the ride. We had prepared her as much as possible for the ride from info in books, etc. Made all the difference. We have since been back, 2002 ( we subjected the grandparents to the thrill) and 2003 ( we had friends and suggested they not take younger son on). We are planning on going back Nov. 2004 and my younger DD, who will be 7, is very dissapointed that she may not be able to ride AE for the first if it is being changed. She has wanted to ride it the last two times we went and we kept saying, when your seven. Hopefully, any changes will be made after we go !

GREAT STORY!!!! Thanks. Just shows that some little kids really do like this show as much as anything else in the MK.

And some of them are terrified. Is that really the point?
If the attraction is drawing the numbers that management thinks it should, it won't change. If the complaints are numerous and the patrons are few, look for Stitch soon.
I can take or leave AE; I usually go if I can walk right in. I agree with those who say that it doesn't belong in the MK. It wouldn't break my heart to see it go.
Sometimes we see the changes that Disney makes and wonder why they're messing with a "great" attraction, but many times the result is something even better than the original. There is a certain former attraction that is very dear to my heart (see username) but the one that replaced it is my current favorite. Funny how that can happen...

I say it's the latter. Again, it's not in keeping with the spirit of the Magic Kingdom.

If I brought my child on that show, I'd be a stupid parent. So yes, parents need to read signs and make a judgement call.

You may think Stitch is a "forgettable" character, but with my kids wanting to watch that dvd for months and months stitch is definately not forgettable. He is actually the first character my kids have clinged onto like that. The just got brand new Stitch luggage from Disney Deals, and my son is begging for that Stitch backpack in the new Disney Catalog. I don't think they should get rid of AE, but at the same time a stitch ride would be great and I know we would definately be on it. Don't knock something like stitch just because you don't like it. Everyone's favorite Disney character is different.
