I see from the Google tribute that today is his birthday.

What is your favorite Hitchcock movie?

Did any of you ever read the children's mystery series called "Alfred Hitchcock and the Three Investigators"? I loved them as a kid!

I read all of them, at least all of them at that time, I think there was 20-30 of them. They are still in print. In fact, I went back a couple of years and bought a couple just to read through them again, although they read pretty quick today.

I always thought the theme would have made a good movie.

The Birds got under my skin the most. I was in 9th or 10th grade when I first saw it. While I was watching it I couldn't understand what so so scary about it. Then as I was walking home I understood completely. :o

The only one that I can think of that I've seen of his is Psycho.

That movie probably changed a lot of people's bathing habits!

There are so many classic Hitchcock films it's hard to chose just one. Psycho is a prime example -- although today everyone knows the ending so it really kills the whole thing, but imagine NOT knowing what was going to happen and to see the star of the film, not only steal money, but die a brutal death approximately 20 minutes into the film. (And you never actually see her getting stabbed. It's all so well edited that the knife never touches).

Or how about Notorious? Even though I know how the story goes, I'm always tense that Ingrid Bergman and Cary Grant will get caught by Claude Rains? Or that seductive scene with Grace Kelly & Cary Grant in To Catch A Thief (you didn't really think she was talking about diamonds, did you?). Or how creepy Mrs. Danvers is in Rebecca (Joan Fontaine doesn't even have a character name in the film! It's all about the dead woman! Creepy). Or Strangers On A Train -- you kill for me, I'll kill for you! How many times has that been used since? Or Rear Window -- what people REALLY did before tv came into vogue (and again, even though I know the story I squirm when Grace Kelly enters Raymond Burr's apartment and all Jimmy Stewart can do is watch!). Or Vertigo -- is Kim Novak the same woman or not? Or his last film, Family Plot, which is funny and full of wonderful twists and turns -- is Barbara Harris really psychic?

Can never pass up a Hitchcock film. (And don't forget wife Alma was often the driving force behind the man, working on the films behind the scenes too)

I saw that on Google, so cool! Hitch is my favorite director. My favorite movie of his has got to be the movie that got me hooked on him, and on classics in general--Vertigo. That movie blew me away, such a great film.

My favorite is Marnie with Sean Connery and Tippi Hedren.

Hitch brings it all together with sex, suspense and mystery.

It's almost impossible to choose. But i guess Rear Window. I love Jimmy Stewart too. I really used to love Alfred Hitchcock presents. Humming the music now. Remember the episode where the lady kills her husband with a leg of lamb, then roasts it and feeds it to the detectives.

The Man Who Knew Too Much

North by Northwest

Marnie

....the list just goes on and on.....

Also......The 39 Steps

Alot of his films were based on absolutely marvelous books....Rebecca, Rear Window, Jamaica Inn, The Lodger

She smiled as one detective said, while eating, "I'll bet the evidence is right under our noses."

I love North by Northwest but then Cary Grant is always super. The Birds was the creepiest IMO and I can relate to Vertigo since I have a touch of that myself.

"Shadow of a Doubt" and "Rear Window"

I love Hitchcock movies! My two favorites are "Rear Window" and "North by Northwest." I remember when I was about 12 we got our first color TV. "The Birds" was playing one night. I was fascinated by it, but couldn't stand to watch it in color. I went into our kitchen where we had a small black and white set and watched it in there. ;)

My cell phone ringer is the "Alfred Hitchcock presents" theme song!:D
