Alex and Ani bracelets, anyone else experiencing issues with discoloring?

I was successful recently at exchanging an A&A Disney birthstone bangle. Was purchased at the DS A&A store in November 2017. After contacting A&A, they told me to call the DS store directly and they would give me the info to return the damaged item (one of the crystals fell out). Just got a UPS shipping notification that my replacement piece is on its way to me. Fingers crossed that it is the correct bangle. On the tarnishing side of things — I have several A&A bangles and they look a bit worn but not tarnished. I wear all 5 of them together, 3 silver and 2 gold. Still love them!

Only thing, she strangely seems to love the tarnished color and continues to wear them.

I feel the same way as your sister - I'm not a gold jewelry person in general (not really a jewelry person at all), so I kinda like the rougher color of the tarnished gold.

You can take them back and exchange them at the Disney locations where they are in stock. It's been discussed in other threads and I've asked about this exchange policy at the Alex and Ani store in Winter Park. The salesperson confirmed that the bracelets can be exchanged if tarnished.

One of dd's bought the mickey birthstone crystal a&a in 2014 and the stone fell out a month later. When we called, we were told they would not replace it because we didn't have the original receipt. ???? Have people been able to exchange them without receipts?

I stopped buying them due to discoloration. Same prob with my Alex & Ani bracelets I buy at other places too

I stopped buying them in 2015 because of the same reason. I have two of their beaded bracelets that have not tarnished and still look beautiful, but my gold ones have all tarnished and look terrible.

This is exactly what happened to my dd's bracelet and they would not exchange it. It was a few years ago so I'm sure it's way too late for an exchange now, but I wonder if they changed their policy at some point.

I only have silver ones and haven't had a tarnishing problem but my Lion King bangle was losing pieces of the enamel colors. I was able to exchange it for a new one but now I am afraid to ever wear it for fear that it will have pieces fall out again.

I have 20 and they are all tarnished. I only wear them at Disney since they turn my arm green. Hopefully I can exchange them on my next trip.

Aren't they made from recycled scrap metals? I can't wear them - sometimes there's nickel in them (even when they say there isn't any) and they give me a rash. Only nickel gives me a rash. I've found for the price, they are made out of crap, and then coated with a cheap covering.

Alex and Ani bracelets are considered costume jewelry. They will tarnish if left out in the open. The best way to keep them clean is to wear them, lol. In my case, they've never cleaned up as well as they when you first buy them. I learned this the hard way when I religiously purchased all gold ones. Now I don't even wear my gold ones because of how bad they look, even after a washing and polishing. Now I've gone all to silver and those as well can tarnish, but I think they clean up much nicer than the gold ones.

Don't be discouraged! They make lovely gifts. I love getting an Alex and Ani bracelet gifted to me, they're pretty pricey. Just make sure you alert the person you're giving it to to take care of it. When I first started purchasing AA bracelets, with the price tag being as high as they are, I assumed they'd last better, but they are recycled materials and AA is very transparent about that. I just learned how to take care of them.
