We have a reservation confirmed for Chef Mickey's for 14, now two more people want to come but there's no more availability. Arkershus can accomodate all 16 of us. Should I switch? None of us have been to either place before so I don't know which would be better. We have 10 kids ages 4 - 13 five girls five boys.

I would keep the reservation at Chef Mickey's and possibly try to make a second reservation for 2. I know last summer we did this because we had two others join us last minute. Our ressie was for late afternoon so early that morning we stopped at the podium at Chef Mickey's and told them we had two separate ressies would we all be able to sit together. They told us that more than likely would not be a problem to just tell them when we checked in. When we checked in that afternoon it was not a problem and we were all able to sit together. Hopefully you can get as lucky!

Our family had great experiences at both places, but Chef Mickey's was more memorable. The characters were great. We had an early dinner and found the food to be good. We are definitely going back.

We loved the Akershus breakfast as well. The princesses were sweet, but their interactions were much more brief. The food was good, and the (free) picture with Belle was an added bonus. That would be a nice keepsake for the 16 of you. I think you get one picture for each group of 4, so you would have 4 pictures I think. (Not sure if I am completely correct on that one - maybe someone could confirm???).

If I had to choose for my family, I would pick Chef Mickey's, but I wouldn't hesitate to go to Akershus again either. Although I will say that the lunch or dinner menu interest me there. However, with 16 people, that is a lot of ups and downs to the CM buffet, whereas Akershus is also part sit down which might be nice for your large party.

Good luck deciding.

I like Akershus better as well, but since you have a group with boys and girls, Chef Mickey's might be a better fit.

Would the boys be embarrassed by interacting with the princesses? If not, choose Akershus. If they're of the age that it would not be enjoyable for the boys--make another ADR for 2, if possible, and go to Chef Mickey's.:wizard:

I love Akershus--and think CM's is just ok.

The boys are all younger, 9 and below. I'm not sure about the 9 year old but the 7 year old loves the attention from the ladies.

Because there are 5 boys in your party, I would pick Chef Mickeys to make it fair for everyone. I agree with the OP, make another ressie for 2 at the same time, and tell the staff member when you checkin that you want to sit together. Adding another 2 to a party of 14 shouldnt be a big deal. Have fun!
I have to say, Chef Mickeys characters are really great and a lot of fun. Donald is hilarious.

Thanks all I'm going to try get a res for two close as possible to our reservation time.

We have been to both, prefer the food at Chef Mickeys but the character interaction at both are great so you really cannot go wrong....thats if the boys like the Princesses ;)
