Is the Ale House any good for food? The drinks look tempting for the adults, but was wondering about the rest : )

Any ideas?

Jenn

Never been to that particular Ale House, but for a "sports bar", Ale House is really good. Stay away on fall weekends though...it gets pretty crowded for the football games.

We went there this past trip. The food is typical pub type food. It was decent quality for a good price.

Would you say the burgers/steaks were like TGIF's nice or Black Angus nice?

What would you compare it to?

Jenn

Ths is definitely pub type food, not really like TGIFs and I have never been to the other place you mentioned. If you have a local bar or pub that serves food, that is probably what it is like.

When you enter the restaurant, on the right is a bar set up. To the left are several booths for food eating. When we went, I got the 35 shrimp for $8.95 (or something along those lines.) It was battered shrimp that was deep fried. I think you could get these scampi style too. The coating on mine was rather bland, but for the price I was very happy. Actually my mom and I and even my DD ate off of this. My mom didn't even order food since we had so much. My older DD got the fish and chips special. This was a regular meal, not a kids meal. I think it was $5 or so. My younger DD got the chicken zingers. These are chicken strips.

I do not recall what my DH got, but I think it was the burger. He ate it all so I assume it was good.

We had plenty of food and the price was very good. We had gone to Macaroni Grill the night before and I think our bill was twice as much there as at the Ale House. But maybe the quality was a little less.

If we were staying offsite or looking to eat offsite and wanted an inexpensive meal, I would eat here again. If we stay at Sheraton SAfari again (which is right across the street) I would eat here again for sure because of convenience. But I wouldn't go here just for the food.

There's no doubt it's a sports bar once you're inside, but given that, the food is quite good--better than your typical casual dining chain. And the prices are not bad at all.

We're really into the Ale House at the moment - we've been to the one at the Florida Mall and the one at the Altamonte Mall. They have loads of beers on draft and usually have a few on ''special' for around $1.75 a pint.

The Zingers are actually wings without the bones, rather than chicken strips. Not quite sure how they do it, but they're great for people like me who can't be doing with the bones.

Really. My DD who is 10 didn't notice. They looked like chicken strips from the other side of the table. I actually thought they were going to be spicy (like buffalo wings) from the name "zinger", but DD said they weren't.

Maggie - they have them in ever-increasinging degrees of spicyness from mild right through to Mount Etna (or something similar). :flower:

Shh.... The Ale House is our "hidden" local favorite. I like the fried clams - a vacation treat. Good bread coating and the clams are not chewy. Yum. Great prices on drinks and food! Lots of TVs with various sporting actitivies. A very family friendly place. The parking can get a bit tough at times but our server in July told us they are planning on expanding the parking soon.

Thanks for the info. I don't know how I missed that??? But I wasn't looking at the zingers - I had my eye on the shrimps! But my little DD does like spicy food, so she may have preferred it somewhere in the middle. Although DH might have liked the Mt. Etna!

Next time we go there, I will have him try those out!
