ALDI, please tell me about them. What are your favorites?

I do my main shopping at Aldi. As Pea-n-me already said, the dressings are awesome, especially the garlic vinegarette, the frozen parmesan chicken filets are really good and they are a staple at my house. The snacks are cheap and taste pretty good, right now I am loving the veggie straws. We eat 2-3 bunches of broccoli every week, it's always $2.00 or less. Same with cauliflower. You really can't beat the prices. We do have some things that we don't care for: we only like some of the cereals, the shredded cheese is kind of bland, I don't like their yogurt, and there's not a wide selection of products like frozen produce or ice cream so I end up making runs to other stores.

Forgot - the shredded cheese not only has no flavor, it NEVER melts. Ick.

I'm an Aldi's fan. I live in the land of Publix and they are SO expensive so I buy as much as I can at Aldi and just grab what I have to at Publix.

I regularly buy almond milk, Greek yogurt, eggs, canned beans and tomatoes, chocolate bars/chocolate covered nuts, nuts, trail mix, condiments. I like their salad mix, cheeses (esp the light and fit ones - like string cheese), produce, and chicken. I buy a TON of produce so the savings adds up!

We haven't really bought anything there we don't like. I don't love their bacon, because I only buy center cut and my Aldi doesn't sell it, and they rarely have herbs or "unusual" veggies.

I don't think you can do 100% of your shopping there but I can get 80-90% of mine.

Was with a friend earlier this evening and she needed to stop at Aldi's for a few items. I'd never been but went in and browsed. Came out with some great things to try. Already sampled the salad dressings I got...really good, and the flavored waters are delicious. Other items will have to wait till tomorrow. Definitely going back!

We buy a lot of our fruits and fresh vegetables there.
Also they have seasonal (spring) frozen Bavarian soft pretzels that are light years ahead in flavor, size, and texture from the common types found in the mega marts.

I like most of their produce, smoked salmon, prosciutto, and salmon (buy the whole one for lowest per lb price, divide and freeze).

They also have lots of non food items throughout the year... 2 years ago I bought a little Japanese maple for 12 bucks. What they have changes from week to week so I always check the flyer online before heading there.

I get my bread there. I do WW and there is a Schmidt's bread at other stores -647- which is 1 WW point. Costs $3.99. Aldi has a Fit & Active bread that is the same 1 point and cost $1.79. Also, a pound bag of pretzels is $.59, and they are as good as the brand name. Milk is cheap too.

The local Aldi used to have some of the cheapest milk prices around. Then about two months ago I noticed they jacked the price up to $3.79 per gallon. Higher than Wawa and most standard supermarkets. It used to be about $2.69. The Walmart right across the street from Aldi also raised their milk prices, but not quite as high.

We do probably 90% of our grocery shopping at our Aldi and will never look back! I love that the company is attempting to go entirely organic so all produce, meats etc are much better for you.

Also as many others have already said we've found that almost all products at Aldi are on par with what you'll find at more expensive establishments...save for things like boxed cereals although we're finding name brand cereals in our Aldi now as well!

We've saved so much money since making this switch!

Our Aldi's did the same thing, used to be the cheapest place then their prices were comparable to the grocery stores.

I do about 75% of my shopping there. I can’t think of any type of product that I won’t buy there. Wait, I take that back—we make sure to buy TP and paper towels at Costco. And coffee at Costco too.

Things I get often: all dairy, kids snacks, sparkling water, juice, frozen veggies, pasta, produce, meat, lunch meat, diapers, canned goods...

save for things like boxed cereals
I have found that their boxed cereals are way better then any national brand. The Millville version of crunchy raisin bran is much better then the national brands as is their version of cinnamon toast crunch. I guess tastes do vary.

Totally fair.

It could also have a lot to do with which cereals we're choosing. I know the Cheerios were terrible!

That being said I'm an Apple Jacks man...which we now can by at the Aldi so I have no more worries! LOL

I get eggs, bottled water (sparkling/flavored and plain), turkey kielbasa, cheddar wurst (hot dogs), lunch meat, all kinds of cheeses (brie and havarti for $3!), salsa, chips (I really like their multigrain tortilla chips), pretzels, their brand of Triscuits and Townhouse crackers, bread (wheat, "skinny wheat," hot dog and hamburger rolls, pita bread, english muffins and tortillas), cookies, pastry crisps, ice cream sandwiches, chicken broth, refried beans, hot cocoa and coffee k-cups ($4-5 a box). I have not ventured into fresh meats. The produce section of my store never looks wonderful so I rarely buy stuff there, although we just had some of their corn on the cob last night and it was good. I can fill 5-6 reusable shopping bags, do most of my shopping there and spend less than $100 usually. But I don't go every week, more like once a month to stock up.

Edited to add: items we've tried and do not like is their alfredo sauce, fresh tortellini (it never really got soft), breadsticks in the take and bake pizza area, and their brand rice a roni. Also I love their "samoas" and "tagalongs" but their "thin mints" have an aftertaste I don't like.

I remembered the second thing I didn't like were their coffee "cups", like K cups.

Other things that I thought were good that I forgot to mention is a chocolate round bundt type cake that is surprisingly moist and good, and their baked cookies in their little bakery section, I think they come six to a package that are also good. (We buy them for the team lunches we do and they are always a big hit.)

My regular purchaes include fruits, veggies, their store brand Raisin Bran (My family likes it better than the national brands), their butter, milk, eggs, canned vegetables, chicken stock, salmon, chicken. I also love their frozen chicken potstickers. One of my favorite finds was their brand of boxed liquid London Fog drink mix to add to milk. It was amazing. I only saw it that one time. I wish I would have bought a case of it!

Not a fan of some of their other cereals. I agree with a PP that their cheerios are awful - they became dog treats!

I wasn't a fan of their alfredo sauce or tortellini either. I also do not like their chocolate syrup or strawberry jelly.

Man, I am gonna have to look for some of these things tomorrow when I go to the store!

Aldi is my first stop when doing our regular grocery shopping. I buy 90% of our produce there as well as a significant portion of the fresh meat we eat. There have been a few things my family didn’t like (knock off belvita, iced mochas both come to mind) but Aldi will refund your purchase if you don’t like their item.

IDK about other locations, but the produce aisle looks like a war zone by late afternoon and most of what is left is really picked over or gone.

The only thing we've really found that we don't like are the American cheese slices. Really, really bad. Otherwise, everything has been on par or some even better than name brand.

My son loves the frozen, precooked sausage patties. Microwaved for 1 minute, slap them on a toasted English muffin, and you have a breakfast sandwich just like sold at fast food. He's 17, 6'2" and still growing, so I buy lots and lots and lots of quick, easy foods for him to grab. Aldi is my friend with growing teens.:flower1:

ETA: Their chocolates are to die for. Imported European chocolate for a steal.
I agree about the chocolate. They have cute chocolate bears at Christmas time too.
