Aldi pizza and chocolate!

I pop in there at least once or twice a month to stock up on certain items. My favorite recent find is the Choceur brand of dusted truffles. Seriously, they are every bit as good as the chocolate shop's. They are imported from Belgium and come in a pretty pink box ~ if you see them, definitely give them a try! They were only $1.99 last week. :thumbsup2

I also would like to defend their checkout process. The cashiers at my store ALWAYS are careful w/ the curshables, and put them on the top part or way off to the side of the cart.

At Jewel and Dominicks, I have had several loaves of bread, chips, and similar items get squashed at the bottom of the conveyer belt over time... I seldom go to these stores now anyhow (mainly because of thier prices).

When the lines start to get long at my Aldi's, the cashier always "buzzes" and another cashier quickly come and opens up. They're real good too at directing the next person in line to go to the new open lane.

They only thing I dislike is sometimes the produce doesn't look so hot, but when it doesn't twice now I've asked if I can get some sort of a discount and I've gotten it free!

bought the pizza last week and my daughters love, love, love them so i went and bought a few more.. never tried their chocolates..

I haven't tried the pizza or the chocolates. I'm kind of undecided about how much I like Aldi. Some things I think are very good, others I really don't like. I guess once I figure out what I like and what I don't I won't mind shopping there. The trial and error process irritates me though, lol, when I feel like I'm throwing money away. I don't mind bagging my own groceries. Actually, I prefer it.

I'm wary of the meat. Almost all of it says "solution added" on the package. If they're injecting it with salt water, that increases the weight of the package and decreases the value, vs what I pay at the regular grocery store, right? I'm paying for a percentage of water?

So far, I know I like: flour, sugar, oil, butter, eggs, milk, shredded cheese, bagged salad, diced tomatoes, kidney beans, frozen teriyaki noodle kit, Benita tortilla chips. The bbq sauce is ok for the price.

I don't like: cereal, pop tarts, drink mix packets, canned mandarin oranges, pre-cooked bacon, zoo animal-shaped chicken nuggets.

DH likes the premium ice cream; I don't. DD likes the italian ice cups. The kids did not like the pizza lunchables.

Even if I did like everything, and I don't, they don't carry all items that I normally buy. I have to shop at another store to get everything. That's a pain.

We have fallen in love with their chips- all varieties, their "cool ranch Doritos kind", potato chips, and Tortilla. I can't get over the fact that their "doritos" can cost .99, and they cost at least $2.50 at Walmart (and that's if they are on sale). They are almost identical!! I was just amazed at how good they were for how little they cost. I am tired of paying Lays' for their bags of air! Aldis' chips are half the price, the same nutritionally, and their bags have less air. I buy all of our milk and dairy products there. I love their produce. I also tried their .99 English Muffins. They're great! Thomas' are at least $2.50, and I saw they were over $3 at our local grocery store. The one thing I have noticed is that their products do not have the long experation dates that the "name brand" products do from the supermarket. I don't buy their meats.
Every time I go, I try something new. I add to our list every week because I keep finding what we like!

The cheese puffs are not even close to Cheetos; I'll wait for those to go on sale for $2.00. The bagels are ok, but comparing $1.39 to over $4 for Thomas', I'd say they are great! We tried the frozen chicken cordon bleu last night and my children loved them.

Wow! I haven't shopped there since they opened up over a year ago. Just got away from it... I think I need to go back! I'm appalled at the "aisle food" prices I'm paying elsewhere! Sounds like I can at least get kids snacks, chips and maybe some chocolate treats! Cereal, graham crackers, etc.... would be great!

They had out all the Easter candy today. Really cute German stuff. They ever had some Disney stuff today, some Cars vehicles and fairy things too.
