I fear this may be a very un-Disney question, but....

DH and I are going in January for our first adult only trip. We will be staying at the Contemporary (my Christmas present) and were wondering if there was a local liquor store that would deliver to the room.....or is that even allowed? We have a room with a MK view and would like to spend a few "nights in" watching the fireworks and sharing an adult beverage. We thought about packing and shipping, too. Please share your advice.

I don't believe that there is any place that delivers. I'm sure that the resort would prefer you purchase your beverages from them and I do believe that you can have wine and such delivered from their bar but I'm sure there's some sort of mark up on it...

They do have a small selection of liquor bottles in the shop on the 4th floor.

California Grill, The Wave, or the Outer Rim bar have a great selection of drinks and you can get a To Go drink

Room service does provide some alcohol, and the gift shop has some smaller bottles, but your post doesn't say what you were interested in partaking in...

Have a great time ...

Can you pack something to bring with you? This will be a much more affordable option than getting a bottle of anything at the resort...

That's what DH and I were just talking about. He makes the BEST margaritas in the world and I really would like to bring the "fixings" for those. I was reading up on the particulars of packing alcohol to take on the plane. It's complex, but we may just explore that option and use one of our "checked" bags for that. (we each get 2 on Southwest)

I'm getting so excited. He is not the Disney-freak that I am...but I am determined to show him that Disney can be a VERY romantic and adult getaway...so he will do it again...and again.

I do NOT know you could get a To Go drink...thanks for that piece of news!:cool1:

I'm a margarita girl, he is a Crown & 7 guy.

Looking at packing it in a checked bag and bringing it with...

You can have it picked up from a store and delievered to your room. Garden Grocier or something along that line. I don't remember the exact name but I know that they will bring liquor. When we were there my Dad and Uncle had some delievered along with breakfast food

Garden Grocer will deliver alcohol for you. There is a comments box when you place the order that you can add whatever you want and they will try to find it. Or you can call them if you prefer. We have them bring us beer and cider almost every trip. :thumbsup2

If you want local purchases, use Garden Grocer. They are awesone. If you want to save money and are using Magical Express, pack a "liquor" bag. Since you are on Southwest, this is a moot point. Use lots of bubble wrap and be generous. Also be realistic about the quantity you will drink. If you have a couple margaritas each night of your stay, you may only need one bottle of Tequila. . .some people over-estimate their needs. Remember, you cannot bring back opened bottles. . .Just estimate your drink needs and bring accordingly.

If you and your DH are margarita fans, you have to try out the Tequila bar inside the Mexico Pavilion! The avocado and blood orange margaritas are amazing!!

Excellent advice! Positive this is the way to go! Thank you!:flower3:

Right outside the MK parking lot is a Hess Gas station. They have beer and wine for sale. I would not walk to the station but you could get a cab. Also, across the street from BWV and DTD are other Hess Gas stations with the same offerings.
From DTD you can get a cab to an ABC store on 535.

Garden Grocer have a minimum spend on their orders, and I believe they take the total excluding alcohol so if you didn't want any food delivering that probably isn't the best option.

We go to the Hess station at Downtown Disney, you can see it across the car park from Planet Hollywood and it is literally 5 minutes walk. They have a selection of beers and wines, not sure about tequila though - I don't drink it so wouldn't notice it. Beer was, I think, $1.59 a bottle compared to $5.50 at the resort shops.

Have a great holiday party:

What about the airport? Does MCO have stores that sell?

I was thinking that if you forgo ME for your trip to the resort, there are several pay-for car services like Tiffany Towncar that will take you from MCO, to a grocery store for 30 minutes, and then to your resort, for $60. If you want to pick up a few things, this may be an option for you - then you could take ME back to the airport. It's just a matter of your budget.

We are staying at POR and are going to order beer, wine and soda. GG stated they will deliver it to the bell station. Can I call them to deliver it to the room? (ofcourse with a nice tip). I just don't want to have to carry it all the way to the room!

You can take the bus to downtown Disney then cross the street. There is a mini mart where you can purchase beer.
