This is a little odd to ask but how much alcohol can you transport when you're flying?

We have gone to Napa/Sonoma and have checked several cases of wine with no problem. We also have filled our wheeled carryons with 6 btls. each (fits perfectly) with no problems.

Actually, there are TSA rules on this

Under 24% (48 proof - which would include almost all beer and wine): As much as you want as long as your obey all the other baggare rules.

Over 24%, under 70% - 5 liters max

Over 70% - treated as hazzardous cargo, generally not allowed on a plane.

Usually can put about 47 lbs. in each suitcase on most airlines! Remember, cans are lighter than bottles for beer and my friend Jim Beam likes those plastic bottles better than Mr. Daniels. I can then usually get a couple pair of shorts and a few t-shirts in for the remaining 3 lbs! Just don't go over 50! Don't fill your carryon to the point where you can't cram it into the overhead bin by yourself or you risk having to share your booze with the little old lady that helps you pick it up!
BTW: They actually have stores that sell alcohol in Orlando and at WDW! If you buy it in FL you don't have to pack the empty cans to bring home to get your deposit back!

Packing 47 pounds in one suitcase would be too much, as I have never heard of a regular suitcase which weighs only 3 pounds (weight limit total is 50 pounds per piece)!

There is no way I'm spending $7 on a Pint. But regardless, beer will not be brought, only vodka or rum. I hadn't realized that you could carry so much alcohol or I wouldn't have asked. My dad made it seem like you could only carry a little bit (he wasn't really sure how much though).

I thought that poster was making an attempt at humor. I would be more inclined to go with salmoneous' advice about TSA limits in regards to %age of alcohol and kaytieeldr's advice about weight limits with your bags.

Also, if it were me, I would pack the alcohol in my carry-on and not in my checked baggage. Something could happen, the bottles could break, and your clothes are soaked in alcohol. And you didn't even get to enjoy the vodka or rum in the process.

Uh, did I just say that out loud? What I meant to say is that, not being a drunkard, I'd take this as a sign and spend the rest of the trip sober and alcohol free.

Hey thanks people.I was thinking that alcohol wasn't allowed on planes. My husband will be ecstatic. They charged you an arm and leg at the resort stores. My husband and 2 sons took the bus to DTD and trekked it to the Hess Shop nearby so my husband could buy cheaper beer. I can just see him now packing a case of Miller's for our next trip "home" Does anyone have the website that lists what is allowed on planes and what is not?? I know it is TSA something- please help????
