Alcohol - To pack or to buy?

I know we are allowed a bottle of wine or a six pack of beer and that was easy to do a couple of years ago when I left out of San Diego since I drove there but.....

I am going on an Alaskan Cruise out of Vancouver and was wondering how to take advantage of bringing in my own alcohol?

Is it just easier to purchase in Vancouver?

If you're flying in the alcohol would have to be in your checked bags for the flight. You'd have to remove it to carry it onboard, as that's DCL's policy about it.

Depending on how long you have between arriving in Vancouver and having to be onboard, it could be easier to purchase in Vancouver.

I would buy it in YVR. You are limited by the TSA rules in your carry-on.

When are you going? We are doing the same thing next week. Our plan is to stop on the way to the port to get some wine. My husband likes beer and has found some breweries at our ports. We were able to bring a six pack on at each port for our other Disney cruises.

There is a BC Liquor store one block south and 2 blocks east of the port. We have walked there many times prior to the cruise. Twist off caps make the pour easy.
