Alcohol policy was changed August 2015

Wm Shakespeare titled a play about this thread, I believe....

anyhow, we are now wildly speculating not only about an alcohol policy rumor BUT also:

why someone would want to protect a source
the reasons/logic behind such a move and the repercussions
future alcohol policy

I truly enjoy this thread as a way to shake off the doldrums.....

it will need to wind down naturally or be replaced buy some large announcement from DCL or new fare increases.....or maybe the Target card discount will expire....

anyhow, Im waiting for someone to start a thread with "We have sailed 72 times over the past 6 years, and in my vast experience I have found that....."

:rotfl2::lmao::rotfl:

Was not our server, it was a higher source. Trying to be drecreet. We picked up some rum in Grand Cam. Try the banana.

Are you referring to grand Cayman? How/where did you purchase alcohol and get it back on the ship??

While we love the ability to carry on DH beer. I would be willing to purchase a beverage package for him but most cruise line make both adults purchase the same package and I don't drink.

So, what is typically $50/day for an adult beverage package really becomes around $100 for us. Not worth it at all. So I am one hoping they will still allow the beverage (beer) carry ons and refills in ports.

Actually, towards the end of last year Royal Caribbean dropped the requirement for everyone to be on the same package. We both chose it but not everyone does.

We are using one of the small roll-on suitcases this upcoming cruise. We plan to fill it up, run it through the scanner and roll it right onto the ship :)

:thumbsup2

To prevent them losing their job for talking out of turn?

There are several people on this board (don't know about OP since they are pretty new) that have apparently developed contacts within the company who share information that, quite frankly, they should not be sharing with outsiders without the permission of the company. Giving away too many details could lead to them getting fired or cause the flow of information to stop. Yeah, it's cloak-and-daggery but that's the way they have to be sometimes. Kinda like reporters and sources or police and informants.

If an employee who knows things that are secret TELLS those secrets, they *deserve* to lose their job.

Any employee telling something secret either doesn't know or is a horrible employee.

No argument here. A question was asked and I was simply answering it.

I sure hope it's not changing!

Agreed. If it does, it's one more nail in DCL's coffin for us. With their higher fares, we're paying more for a lower category stateroom for the exact same week in October that we typically sail. Even with carrying on a bottle of rum, we still rack up a healthy bar bill with drinks around the pool and at dinner and in the theater/clubs in the evening. In our case, that one bottle of rum could be what breaks the camel's back. *sigh*

I, too, hope that it's not changing! We take our first cruise next fall and that was one of the perks that we are really looking forward to. We don't even drink much, but it sounded fun to have a drink in our room while getting ready for dinners.

If it is like the cigerette policy it won't take affect until new bookings. Even when they changed the age for babies they grandfathered all booked guests into the old rules.

Why would parents want their teenage kids to drink? :confused3 I'm as liberal as they come and it doesn't make any sense to me.

I hope Disney doesn't change their current alcohol policy.

That is absolutely a possibility. As has been discussed here, we've all heard the rumors started by bus drivers, etc... Sometimes it is smoke and sometimes it's just honest misunderstanding.

I understand where you are coming from and don't blame you. This seem to be fairly detailed information coming from this person. Like I said just threw it out here. I love the policy but could live without it. Just one of the things that make Disney Cruise Lines the best.

Mark my words...Disney will expand their fleet at some point...and when they do...even if its years later, I will find this post and bring it back to the top just to prove to you all how I was right!
