Alcohol Policy Change?

What a great idea!! Tell me more about a "small" blender, how small? I have seen the mini-choppers and the blender sticks but never a mini-blender. I would love to make smoothies, with or without alcohol.

I just bought an "Oster" mini blender for my protein shakes. It only makes one glass at a time, but it mixes it in the glass (plastic) and also has a lid.
It was MUCH cheaper than the Magic Bullet that they sell at Target and other places.
It does need to be plugged in, though.

I know someone who has a cordless blender...battery operated. I have no idea where/when she got it.

There have been several "parties" held on the upper, open decks...later at night, with a whole table full of booze brought onboard. All sorts of different CM's passing by, including officers....and no one ever stopped the parties or said anything.

But....that's been a while ago (a few years) so they may have cracked down on that since then.

I hate the wine on board, but I also hate wine on the ship. The beer tastes that same for me on the ship as it does on land(and it's the same price), and the only place I really get mixed drinks is on the ship. Chocolate martini's on the Dream and Wonder were great. If you are going on the Dream and see a bartender name Augusto ask him for a Chocolate Martini, they are great and he does it cool trick while making the martini's

I have read several posts that passengers bring glasses of wine (from wine they brought onboard) from their room to the dining room. I was wondering if there have been any problems with spilling the wine on the carpet, in the elevators, or on other passengers?

Yes, I imagine it does get spilled alot. But so do the food and drinks that are provided "free" around the pool area. People are constantly hauling plates full of food back to their rooms, and armloads of drinks. I've even seen whole ice cream cones that someone dropped in a hallway and left there.
Not that this is right....it's very sad indeed.....but the stuff people bring onboard wouldn't be the only thing that could possibly make a mess.

I was at dinner one night when another woman at our table accidentally knocked over a glass of wine (purchased at dinner) and it spilled all down the front of a very favorite top of mine. It happens!

But the funny part was that I was sneaking up the back stairs to go to my room to try to wash it out and to change clothes....hoping no one would see me.....and I ran smack into the Captain!! SO embarrassing!!

Maybe, but drinks bought on board at one of the many bars are also be carried through the ship. I think it would be hard to determine where they got it.

I'm sure some does. But probably no more than when a person buys a glass of wine in a lounge and then takes it to other places on the ship. DH and I do that all the time. I love getting a glass of Mumm champagne in the Promenade Lounge and then walk around on deck 4 or 10 with it. Of course, many times we get a pre-dinner drink in a lounge and then take it to dinner. So whether it comes from a room or a lounge, I don't see much difference.

Thanks to all who responded. I am on the hunt for a machine - I can taste them now - vanilla ice cream, a little instant coffee, ice and bailey's all blended until thick and creamy - YUM

Well I know when I cruised the Dream he was in Evolution, but he was working in another bar when my friend cruised, so not sure how that works. He is on vacation right now, but he comes back in september or October, can't remember which one.

Our current policy regarding bringing alcohol onboard is still in place. As a reminder, Disney Cruise Line does not prohibit Guests from bringing alcohol onboard. Any fragile items (including alcohol) must be hand-carried onboard in a day bag and/or carry-on, which cannot exceed 22" wide, 14" high and 9" deep. Beverage coolers are not permitted onboard (cannot be checked or hand carried). Disney Cruise Line reserves the right to remove fragile items (includingbeverages) from the Guests' luggage and the items will be stored to return to the Guest at the end of the voyage. Beverage containers are considered fragile and such items have caused damage in checked luggage (e.g. carbonated cans "explode", glass bottles break).

Guests who request a Wine Steward to open and serve a bottle of champagne or wine that has been brought onboard will be charged a corking fee. If the Guest opens the bottle in the stateroom and brings it into the dining room, including Remy or Palo, they will still be charged a corking fee. Alcohol brought onboard cannot be consumed in any lounge or public area.

Since we've rec'd notice that DCL has officially recinded their revised alcohol carry on policy and it's been reverted back to their original policy we're going to close this thread.
