Alcohol on Board

We are doing the L&S package and are staying at the BC. We don't have a car so is there anything close to DTD where I can take a taxi that won't cost a small fortune?:confused3

If you are staying at the Beach Club there is a Hess Station about ½ mile from the resort. It's closer to the Boardwalk and you can walk there. There's also another Hess station across from DTD that you can walk to. If you want to go someplace else you can talk a taxi to Goodings at Crossroads shopping center, maybe a 10 minute drive with traffic.

Thank you! I will try the Hess station when we get there on Thursday. I am very leary about packing wine/beer in my suitcases as they might break and give me even more laundry to do while we are on vacation!:laundy:

There have also been reports of people having their luggage show up soaking wet with either booze or other liquids as someone's bottle broke in another bag and soaked surrounding bags. That is not a way to start a vacay!!!

At Port Canaveral in January, were were at the curbside dropoff area and saw an awful sight.

A man was holding his full size suitcase over the gutter as red wine leaked out. Apparently the bottle broke when the shuttle/taxi driver loaded or unloaded it.

Now imagine if his bag had been loaded on the ship with one of yours:scared1:. Oh, what an awful way to start a vacation. Hopefully most people are more responsible and follow the rules and keep it with them in their carry on.

A very good point, in addition its a security risk, food and drink can put off the dogs that patrol the port and luggage for other dangerous items.

I've had my luggage soaked with wine & it's not fun. Maybe for those that can't play by the rules, if they had to pay for cleaning of others & a fine, they would think twice before taking a chance.:woohoo:

Does anyone know if this applies to the med cruises as well? Since we will be in Spain I would love to pick up a bottle of wine and bring it on board with me for an evening (in my carry on of course).

Yes it applies wherever DCL sails.

The HESS is good for Beer and Wine, but there is also an ABC Fine Wine & Spirits very close to DTD at 11951 S Apopka Vineland Rd Orlando, FL 32836-7025

Although Goodings is close, it's EXTREMLEY over priced! There is a nice Publix close to the Disney College Program Housing and Mary Queen of the Universe Shrine that sells groceries at a reasonale price. The Publix is at 8145 Vineland Ave Orlando, FL 32821-6847 (407) 238-9924

Hope this helps, I just hate to see people waste their money just because they don't know of any other places in the area
