Hey I have read you can bring some on board yourself but they can't chill etc...
Anybody bring like some red wine (does not have to be chilled) cap'n morgans (plastic bottle) vodka (plastic again). I am not a big drinker but on vacation it is nice to have a drink or two

the dw and i allways bring our own rum so we can make our own rum n coke's. of course use plastic bottles and have them in your carry on won't be a problem :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Our room steward brought us a full size cooler for our case of beer and water and he re-filled each day :cutie:

There's a cooling box, looks like a fridge, in your cabin. If you need to keep drinks colder in it you just put in cups of ice. You will also get an ice bucket in your cabin and you tell your cabin host when you want it refilled. Up on deck 9 there is a drink station that has ice if you need more.

Here is the lowdown. DCL allows you to bring whatever you want to drink onboard with you. There are certain guidelines, though.

1. ALL and any beverages must be brought on the ship with your carryons. They can't be in your checked luggage. This means that you will have them with you from boarding until about 1:00-1:30 when they open up the staterooms for guests. You will bring you carryons with you to lunch. You cannot drop them off in your room before 1:00-1:30 as the rooms are roped off.

2. Beverages must be put in something...You can put your beverages in any type of bag you want except a hard sided cooler. Soft sided coolers, rolling coolers, rolling duffle bags, suit cases (carryons), etc. are all fine for brining your drinks onboard.

3. No ice can be with your beverages.

That is basically it. Enjoy!!

Is there any place near the MCO hyatt that one could purchase acoholic beverages to take on the ship so he/she would not have to fly with them?? or is that the reason for some of the shuttles offering 30 min "grocery" stops?

There really is nothing in the airport or near it to purchase liquor. I was able to purchase a bottle of wine to bring onboard at the Macaroni Grill in MCO but they charged $30 for a $15 bottle of wine. I was desperate!

We bought a case of beer at a 7-11 on the drive to the Radisson

Maybe we should open a liquor store in the airport for all the despatate DCL cruises to take onboard with them. :rotfl2:

I thought you could bring alcohol on the plane as long as it is in the checked luggage??
IS this true or not?

We do it all the time (wrap it in bubble wrap)... checked luggage :thumbsup2

Target sells alcohol- there is one not too far from the airport on the way.

(it's weird to us because in Maryland ONLY liquor stores sell booze- not grocery stores or Target/Walmarts) :thumbsup2

Yes, on a plane you are allowed to bring alcohol in your checked luggage, but the problem is then that DCL wants it in your carryons, not your checked bags.

People will post that they had no problem checking their booze with the porters but you have to understand that the porters do not work for Disney and they work on tips....so chances are they will take just about anything you give them to check.

People are going to do what they are going to do, following the guidelines or not, but I and many others would hate to see DCL take away this great perk because people were not following the simple guidelines they ask be followed.

There have also been reports of people having their luggage show up soaking wet with either booze or other liquids as someone's bottle broke in another bag and soaked surrounding bags. That is not a way to start a vacay!!!

The Walmart we went into in Florida sold alcohol too -- at least wine and beer. You are right -- NOT here in Maryland.

A liquor store and a shipping desk and we would make millions!!! Actually, I think I read that with the port canaveral improvements in the coming years they are going to have retail stores and I would not be surprised if one of them was a liquor store! It would not be run by Disney, obviously, but would come in handy.

The walmart only sells beer and wine. ABC Liquors is right on N. Atlantic Ave. (within a few miles of the port) and sells all liquor. It opens at 8-9 am too.

Is DCL really strict on number of carry-ons per person? Could I have my rolling duffle with bottle water and beer, and backpack/daybag? My wife and son would have there own carry on bag.

That would be fine but just remember you have to keep your carry-ons with you till you can get into your room which is at 1:30
