Are there any delivery services that would deliver wine or liquor to your resort. I've noticed in Disney the bottles are very overpriced if you're buying on your resort with a limited selection and I don't rent a car as everything is either walkable of close with Disney Bus Transportations.

I was going to have it shipped, but Florida laws prohibit wine and liquor entering via FedEx/UPS/etc.

Is there any place close by that would have bottles for less then what you would pay on a resort and with more of a selection?

I thought about bringing from home, but I carry everything on and there is the 3 oz. limit when bringing liquids on a plane.

Thanks in advance.

you can use www.wegoshop.com
my daughter did this last September and it worked out great for her. She had the lady get adult drinks, breakfast food, milk, juice and snacks. The fee wasn't too bad I think 17.00?? I could be wrong, I'm sure it is posted on the web site. Oh and she did have to show her ID!

hi: gardengrocer has done this several times for us along with our regular groceries. you just put your liquor requests in the comment area.

Wait, what's this about Florida law prohibiting alcohol via fed ex, etc.? I hadn't heard that. In fact, I've shipped a "Care Package" to myself at the resort to be there on our arrival that included bottle of rum (etc.) along with our snacks and such. I had no idea it was illegal and was never told this by the shipping places I've used though I'd honestly disclosed what was in the package.YIKES! :scared1: (Or more aptly, DARN...I was planning on doing the same next month!).
Anyone else hear of this?
By the by...we used gardengrocer for our perishables delivery (lunchmeat, bread, fruit). It worked out great having everything taken care of and front desk kept the delivery in a refrigerator for us from morning delivery until we arrived for check-in at 4:00.

The laws against shipping alcohol to Florida are probably about direct-shipping wine and such to consumers. Since you're technically shipping it to yourself (admittedly, via the resort), I don't know if the law really applies? I am just guessing...

Anyway, I found this site which talks a little about it. Apparently the laws affecting direct shipping have been relaxed in florida.

Not that I'm advocating shipping it. We have used GG and WGS in the past and never had a problem with adding beer & wine to our delivery.

Thanks for the info. Guess I'm spoiled being from New Hampshire...buying booze anywhere else seems so darned expensive!

We also used Garden Grocer. There was a $10 delivery charge. When we called to check on having alcohol delivered, the customer service person told us we also had to have $40 from their list first. Which we were planning on doing anyway, so no big deal for us. I was so glad we had it delivered. :thumbsup2

We have pretty restricitve laws here in Massachusetts. Cannot have wine from vineyards sent to our home address- must go to a distributor.

However, when I went to Poly in 2007- I hade 4 bottles of our favorites shipped to resort from Wine.com They were waiting for us when we checked in. CM even said that her ID was checked by UPS guy for proof of age.

Wine.com will not ship to us inMass., but shipped to WDW no problem.

Check their website if you have time. Maybe laws have changed??

We were going to buy wine from POP, and noticed that the bottles and the selection wasn't very good.

However, after we had dinner at Boma at AKL, we stopped in the counter service place (the name escapes me) and they had quite a large selection of wine and most of it was under $10.00.

We just grabbed a few bottles and were fine for the rest of the trip... just letting you know that some of the other resorts might have a better selection than your own resort.

I work for US Postal Service, and if you have ever gone to the window for service the clerk will ask you if there is "anything liquid, fragile, perishable, or potentially hazardous." If you answer yes to the liquid portion of the question, they should be asking you what you are mailing. Liquor cannot be mailed via the US Postal Service.

That's why I use UPS or FedEx. It's permissable and they even advise how to wrap properly!:goodvibes

The gift shop at AkL has a most amazing selection of wine at reasonable prices, enjoy:thumbsup2
