Since we live 2 hours away we are planning on having a cooler in our room. We plan on stocking it with beer and sodas. We can bring our own alcohol to the pool as long as they are in dixie cups right?

It's why we go to WDW, yes coolers are allowed, no glass though. We take beer, wine and booze in plastic bottles and enjoy the Florida sun. CHEERS!

I would always buy a beer from the pool bar just to get a cup and then I would have some cans in a cooler and refill the cup. If you are by a quiet pool or the VWL pool there are no pool bars so I just drink my beer out of the cac

Yep, no glass and obviously, no wild parties!

I know because I had to nag my husband for an hour until he would allow me to get a beer while we were by the pool waiting for our laundry to dry. He said they wouldn't allow that near the pool. Right. I asked the bartender and he said it was fine.

That's interesting about no bottles. I didn't know that. I would buy the small wine bottle (from the food court = two glasses of wine), and fill my refillable mug with ice, and sip for a few hours. Probably tacky, but soooo relaxing. I never thought about the glass, and I never had anyone say anything to me about it.

Safety reasons... don't want the glass to break near all those bare feet. Most pools, at Disney as well as other places, have this rule.

BTW totally not tacky. I've done it with beer on really hot days;)

On our way in we have a grocery stop and next to the Publix is a liquor store, very convenient. We get the 3 liter jug of Paisano or Sangria and a fifth of JD plus the 24 pk of beer and just pour the wine in used bottled water bottles to take to the pool, sometimes a glasses just isn't enough, if you know what I mean, we're not into the really fine wine with a cork. Do the same with the JD, small water bottle, collapsable cooler with beer covered with ice, pop a cube or two from there, couple of fingers of JD and I'm good to go.

Are beer cans allowed or does that need to be poured in cups also?

I've seen cans out there. However, you might want to take a can cooler cover so the kiddies aren't scarred for life seeing a beer can.

We love sitting by the pool (or anywhere else for that matter!) with adult refreshment!

Just wanted to mention, those refillable mugs are EXCELLENT for wine as well! They are insulated you know, and hold quite a bit! ;)

You poured the wine into the mug. So you handled the glass once. Probably why nothing was said.

Of course, now I have to go on my soapbox a bit. Everyone - please recycle your cans and bottles.

They sell the same beverages at the pool bar, same cans as mine and they issue no covers. If someone doesn't like my brand or what I'm doing, look elsewhere. I've offered others a beer and been asked if I would like one of theirs, there's no disguising of drinks at the resort or pool, its just the no glass issue and no drinks on or in the pool. We've taken our picnic lunch to the pool also, made with fixing from our grocery stop, again, totally allowed, no covers needed. We've done 40 trips to WDW, and everyday was a pool day. The only issues with beverages around the pool was glass and no drinks while sitting on the edge of the pool or in the pool, cover ups never mentioned.

I was going to say the say thing....even if you buy beer from the pool bars they serve it in most cases from a plastic bottle or can. Only time we've ever recieved a cup is if it was tap or asked for one. HOpe you have a wonderful time!! :)

I buy the lime margerita mix and Tequila from Walmart or publix and fill my refillable mug this and lotsof ice and drink it by the pool. As they hold quite a bit no need to keep getting up for refills! Hubby takes a few cans of beer. Our last 2 stays we have had moderate resort rooms right next to the quiet pool, so very relaxing for afternoon or evening tipple. Never seen anyone get drunk next to a pool at WDW before, thankfully, but it is nice to have an adult drink to relax a little.

I don't think it would upset kids but it looks very cheap and nasty to drink out of beer cans anywhere. Someone sitting with a cup of wine or cocktail looks much nicer.

Mental note to self: Get Tequila mix and Tequila from Walmart. Thanks. ;)

Nor am I. Heck, I buy the stuff from the box while at home.

DH and I went out for a fancy Italian dinner (very upscale place) and ordered a bottle of wine (not the cheapest but maybe 4 down from the cheapest :lmao: ) Anyway, the waiter returns to the table and with much style *unscrews* the top!! I thought about asking if I could smell the screw cap. :rotfl2:
