Alcohol at Be Our Guest

Regarding the whole "I see drunk people!" discussion:

Once, on a monorail, I saw a guest who was staggering, incoherent and bright red in the face. Just after the monorail started up, he suddenly vomited everywhere.

It didn't occur to me to suspect he might be drunk.

Why?

Because he was a small child, about five years old.

If a woman passed out at the Magic Kingdom, you'd normally assume she was ill with heat exhaustion. But if the same woman passed out in the World Showcase, and especially at the Food and Wine festival, there'd be folks here on the boards the next day talking about what a disgusting drunk she was.

I'm a non-drinker. The last time I was sick in public was when I was two months pregnant and suffering from occasional, unpredictable bouts of morning sickness. I'm awfully glad I didn't choose to visit Epcot when I was in that condition, because I'm sure I'd have been judged very harshly.

:dancer: maybe disney will make those 3 foot long booze tube drinks like in vegas. i've seen that those things come with a neck strap now so in case your too wasted to hold onto the drink, it's still secure around your neck like a boozey feed bag. i'm sure they can fashion one with ears on it!:lmao:

And if not one with ears on it, a very long mickey head crazy straw! Cuz drinking is even more fun through crazy straws!

Back in February I was at the Magic Kingdom and I have to say there were plenty of drunk people. Even rode the monorail with them. That was Feb 29 and we were heading over to MK after last call. I think a lot of other locals had the same idea because about 2am, the gates were crowded getting in. :rotfl:

That's my sweet grandbaby. Isn't he a doll. Can't wait to be able to bring him to Disney!

We have 2 step grandsons, 14 and 16, It took us only 1 trip to make your diseny nuts.

I next one is due in March with our duagther............I keep telling her I am hoping for twins..........amazing how nasty her evil eye can be!:rotfl2:

We have seen more of them over the years...its sad.......I enjoy a few drinks as well as anyone, but when it becomes noticable like at Epcot, its a problem for every one!

Friendly warning ... avoid the world showcase on 12/21/12 as a group of us are drinking to the end of the world per the Mayan Calendar. ;) I don't expect anyone to be unruly or out of control but we will certainly be having a good time.

And I suspect the following day when the world is still spinning that many of us will have fond memories to go with our headaches. :rotfl2:

There is a big difference between havng a good time and being a drunk!

Just curious: You guys who are freaking out about beer & wine being served at BOG: You people do realize this is just one or two glasses, not a FREE FOR ALL never-ending Niagra Falls gushing waterfall into-your-mouth naked Yellowstone geyser-gushing 100-proof alcohol party, right??!!!

That sounds like my idea of a good time!

Seriously, it was only a matter of time. This represents an evolution of the MK not the end of it. My advice to those who apparently see this as an affront to Walt and his ideals would be to vote with your wallet and stay away from the MK. The rest of us will enjoy a glass of wine and a spin on dueling Dumbos!

You figiurted that out all by yourselves did you.I wondered if either on you would considering the source

I keep asking you for numbers but you're skipping over my posts. Your misspellings and excessive use of ellipses make your argument that much more difficult to read.

So, how many of these horrendous offenses have you witnessed?

That's an oxymoron. I've never understood the term "drink responsibly". A responsible person doesn't use mind altering substances. The moment the first sip passes someone's lips, they are acting irresponsibly.

I'm not saying alcohol should be illegal, but own up to your actions. Drinking is irresponsible no matter how much or little you drink. Every alcoholic started with "just a drink". No one sets out to drink and drive, but it happens a lot and kills lots of innocent people. Drinking can never be responsible.

As far as Magic Kingdom, I don't think serving wine at Be Our Guest is the end of the world, but I do find it sad how people are so obsessed with alcohol to the point they can't go more than a few hours without guzzling it down. I think it's sad that adults can't exercise personal self control and refrain from drinking for such the short period of time they are in Magic Kingdom. If you need alcohol to enjoy Disney then you are probably taking the wrong type of vacation.

I can only imagine what events led to your extreme opinion of alcohol but I understand you are entitled to your opinion. I do assure you however that millions of people drink responsibly every day. There are those who abuse it just as there are those who abuse food. Sad but true but please don't bucket those of us who can see the line and not cross it with those who are sick and need help.

I have emailed and talked on the phone to explain my position.

I word is that they has alot of negitive feed back, but it will only help if people keep up complaining.

There is a old saying..............God grant me the courage to change the things I can, the serenity to accept the things I can't and the wisdom to know the difference.

I know this is a losing battle, but that doesn't mean one doesn't stand up for ones beliefs.

the straw MUST change color with hot/cold and glow in the dark. i can't be a proper feed bag drunk unless my loopy crazy straw glows and changes color.

What a coincidence that they use that in AA meetings.

Sorry I type slowly and not the best.........

Let see.about 4 years ago, we were leaving epcot for dinner at the flying fishs and saw seciurty high stepping a drunk guy with wife and kids in toe out the WS gate.

another trip one fellow was sound asleep on a benbch.............very drunk asleep.

The worse was Fand W, 2 years ago, I watched a drunk fall over a kid in a stroller , the father took care of him nicely. I saw at least 3 or 4 guys peeing in the bushes here and there and another couple in seciurty's care being lead back stage.

Friends have also seen the changes in Epoct.

Ho yes my duagther on one of her trips had a guy drunk bothering her...........he needed time to stand again.

OK?
