Hi, just wondering how do cruisers bring on Alchohol in their carry on if most airlines require you to check all alchohol in your checkbags. If you purchased the transfers Once you check your bag you don't see your luggage again until you get to the room.

Here's what you need to do. At home put the DCL luggage tags on all checked bags EXCEPT the one with your alcohol in it. Once at MCO, claim the one bag. Transfer alcohol to your carry on bag. Place DCL luggage tag on that bag and bring it with you to the DCL transfer check in desk. Hand over the checked bag when you check in for your transfers. It will join the other checked bags on the DCL truck and show up at your room onboard later in the afternoon.

If you are dealing with alcohol and flying with it then you just don't tag your bags and instead carry them to the transfer bus and deal with them at the port yourself. That way you can take the alcohol out of your checked baggage and put it into your carry on.

If we want to bring on our own we just get a car service with a stop instead of using Disney transfer.

Thanks! I was thinking that would be the only way, if I choose to do the transfers.

ThankYou,, that sound like a plan.

Dec will be our second cruise on Disney out of Miami, we like to fly in a few day prior to cruise so we just grab drinks from a local store before we check out of our room. Then put it in our carryon. there is something to be said about not rushing from the Airport to the port. also if we get later embarkment times they we done have to leave the hotel until actual checkout time.

This is what we do. We're not brave enough to pack wine in our checked luggage. How does everyone do it, with a special case/holder? I've heard boxed wine travels well (but can't do that for DCL I guess and still not brave enough!)

Wine bottles are stronger than you might think. I didn't take alcohol TO the ship, but I brought wine and spirit bottles home from the trip. No problem. I put them in my largest suitcase, surrounded them with clothes, etc. Nothing that would be damaged if it got wet. Personally, I bring several (empty) Ziploc bags too (works great for minor spills of mouthwash, shampoo, sunscreen) so I use those too. Never had a problem. Lots of other souvenirs we bring home, wood, stone, etc. are more fragile than alcohol bottles and they survive too. I know they CAN break, and I've seen the pictures of what happens to luggage, but most things survive just fine.

I'm sure others will have had other experiences and outlooks. To each their own.

well to bring it on board it has to be in your carry on not in the checked bag.

I have read that you can bring on 2 bottles of wine? is that it? do they check you? wondering if I could bring a bottle of alchohol aboard?

They do check. Fairly thoroughly. But you can bring additional wine and beer at each port (to drink in your room). Also if you want to buy alcohol to take home, they will hold it for you and give it back at the end of the trip.

That makes me think of the other thread, where people are asking if DCL will stow their car seats for them so they don't have to squeeze the car seats into their rooms. Maybe if they put a bottle of vodka in the car seat....

Kidding.

Wine Diapers are amazing! I have used them for all my return trips from Europe. I used them for Champagne, Wine, and Whisky! They protect the bottle and if it happens to break the diaper soaks up the liquid! You can buy them online or I just found a package of three Jet Packs (which are the same thing) at Bed, Bath, and Beyond for 11.99.

The alcohol policy is - each person 21 and older may bring onboard a maximum of 2 bottles of wine/champagnes (max size 750ml) OR 6 beers (max size 12oz). This allotment may be brought onboard on embarkation as well as in ports of call.

You may not bring onboard hard liquor/spirits.

You may purchase hard liquor/spirits in port and it will be taken when you reboard the ship and held for you to pick up on debarkation morning.

So, as a reversal/continuation of this question:

Ordinarily, I fly Southwest down to MCO and back - huge amount of points and it's a direct flight. They don't participate in the onboard luggage check, so I've never encountered this before.

On our upcoming Cruise, We're flying Delta back - which DOES participate in the luggage check, and I plan on using it. I also plan on taking advantage of duty free. Thus my question becomes - End of Cruise return of purchased alcohol.

I seem to remember getting it back departure morning, but I don't remember if there was an option for prior evening pickup. Can you get it back night before for packing? Or are the two things just not compatible? How does everyone else deal with this?

You're going to do the same thing as described but reversed. Keep separate (from what you're leaving for onboard airline checkin) one bag that you'll end up checking at the airport. Once you get your liquor carry it off and declare it. Then at the airport check that bag with the liquor in it.

Yeah, that's what I Figured would have to happen, but I was hopeful....

Thanks!

No way to get it before the last morning. Make sure you look for that table off to the side on the main deck BEFORE you get off the ship. It is not well marked, and if you don't see the table before you get off, you will have trouble getting back on. So make sure you find that table!
