Alcatraz...

Does anyone know if its possible to see Alcatraz without going over there??? Is there anywhere from the main land to see it.... If so where??? Thanks for any other info!

You can see Alcatraz Island all over the place from various vantage points in San Francisco. If you want to go on the tour, you need to book ahead of time -- they are often sold out. Also, I think that if you do a harbor cruise they will take you near it. Have a great time!

You can see Alcatraz from the shore but it is pretty far away so unless you have binoculars it looks just like a big building on an island that is far away. You won't be able to see much detail.
